For comedy value, i'd love Neil Warnock in charge.

i read in one of the papers at the weekend that steve coppell has been mentioned. not sure he'd be very good though.
mourinho would be my choice if the fa could afford it.

Martin o'Neill for me, failing that Guus Hiddink or Big Phil. No English managers inspire enough confidence, and big sma's long ball game would be dull. If Mourinho would do it it'd be ace. I think Sven's experience has been an eye opener to foreign coaches on the pressure of the job, and people like the NotW don't help. Watch them get all patriotic come June, then blame Sven when we fail, not that them publically undermining him had anything to do with it!
Outside shot is Hitzfeld, I think he's been learning English of late.

mourinho would be my choice if the fa could afford it. I don't think Coppell would either. Now Reading are heading inevitably for the prem this season he still has so much to achieve with them.

I never said they couldn't do both But Steve Coppell? ? I don't think so. wasnt a specific comment towards your post, just a general query....can they do both? Get Sven out and now get Mourinho to manage us from May till August through the World Cup then go from there...

I guess they could, however they run the risk of being accused of favouritism if they play players from their own team more regularly and also if they make decisions people don't agree with (substitutions etc.)

Probably true....I'd get a new manager in asap. Teams never do well when they know the manager is leaving, look at Southampton when they heard Stachen was leaving....or Fulham when they knew Tigna was leaving....not good

I agree with DV. Moral needs to be high in the run up to the world cup, and uncertainty is never good. I think they would have done better keeping it under wraps until after the world cup tbh.

As I've just read the lsat times this situation arose with England we made the semis, in '90 and '96. Although usually I feel teams can't seem to perform when they know the coach is leaving.
