It's been pretty obvious this would happen for ages. Not really a suprise at all.

Think Andy King will replace him.

Probably for the best. As Ben says, it has been obvious for a while, if the press want you out, you don't have a prayer in the England job. Not sure he would be the man to take us forward beyond the WC anyway.

I'd imagine it would be a young double act to take the reins after Germany....Pearce would be my tip, alongside McClaren....which would give both men the chance to continue with Man City and 'Boro respectively. Although, Curbishley must be in with an outside chance

Good! Sven is a pikey! An English team needs an English manager, that is passionate about their country.  I know he's inexperienced, but someone like Stuart Pearce would make a great manager, he would 110% passionate and commited to the job!

They should fuck him off now-World Cup or no World Cup!Like the players will miss his dynamic leadership and technical expertise!?

to be honest, its bollocks, cos we all know that he would leave after the world cup anyway - win or no win?! Basically the FA have just given Sven a comfy compensation package for no apparent reason! Even without the paper revelations he would have left, i mean who in the modern day usually gets 2 worlds cups and a european championship? Not many, shelve life for an international manager is short, let alone if you've never won anything in that  time!!

Big Sam for the job is my tip!

I think we all realized/hoped that he'd be leaving after the World cup,so its not a huge shock. The timings a bit off though, couldn't the FA have waited until after the World cup, there always seems to be a question of commitment whan you know the coach is leaving and we all know Sven doesn't exactly come across as Mr passionate at the best of times, how will he be know he knows he's going?
Whoever gets the job will have to be English i think,so i reckon it could be anyone out of the blokes you've already mentioned BUT it has to be a full time job, none of this half hearted rubbish.Being the England manager is one of the biggest jobs in world football,it should be treated with the respect it deserves.

I wonder if Ferguson would still be after the job? He said a few years back that he wanted to manage England after Man U. Wouldn't be happy with that at all although it's unlikely to happen.

I think it will be Allardyce myself, although Pearce/McLaren is also a good shout. Don't think Curbishley will be appointed.

I think psycho is the fans favourite, but he's only been in a job for a short while,so it may be too early for the bloke.Whoever gets it ,it has to be a full time job.You can't manage one team and England, its too important a position to be treated like that.

Pearce has not proved himself yet, way to soon to be throwing him into the international scene. Nowt wrong with El Tels footballing credentials but do the FA trust him ? Gus Hiddink has been mentioned but do we want another foriegn coach ? This leaves either Big Sam and his long ball tactics or Alan Curbishley, neither of which fill me with any great hope for the future . Personally i dont care who we get as long as they get us playing decent football and pick a side that will do the nation proud.
