Swindon striker Christian Roberts will spend 28 days at the Sporting Chance Clinic to receive treatment for an alcohol problem.
Roberts, 26, will check into the Hampshire clinic on Monday and is unlikely to play for Town in the time he is there.

Swindon boss Iffy Onuora said: "I admire Christian for facing up to his problems and seeking help.

"I'm sure he'll benefit from his time with Sporting Chance."

Roberts went for an assessment at Sporting Chance last Friday and it was decided he should check into the clinic.

Sporting Chance chief executive Peter Kay said: "Christian has been dealing with this problem for over a year and it's at this stage he feels his life has become unmanageable.

"Christian has also thanked the PFA for giving him their support and allowing him to come to Sporting Chance."

Fair enough for admitting the problem, but frankly, he ought to be sacked.

If Peter Kay's there that should help him look on the bright side anyway.

A drinking ban is ridiculous. How many other clubs have them? Complete waste of time, everyone knows that drinking helps you play football anyway. look at Gazza at Euro 96, pissed off his head and so were half the team and he scored that classic goal against Scotland. Conclusive proof.

can we afford to...not money wise but the fact is if Fallon goes and we sacked Roberts we'd be left with Cureton who hasnt scored for us to win us matches....

We do seem to have a drink culture at the club :-))(  :x ,which surely doesn't help out on the pitch.I'm not saying the players should live like monks but they should behave like professional athletes, not drinking in town on a saturday night would be a start.
Which night would you give your permission for?

Fallons not going anywhere. Unfortunately.

I don't see how keeping Roberts makes a tiny bit of difference... he hasn't featured for about 2 months.

,but the fact that two of the players mentioned have been in trouble due drink driving and they are still out in the Walkabout, you would have thought they'd keep their heads down.
How many? Pook and ...Huh?

You aren't paid to go out on the lash the night before and not be able to mentally concentrate.
Who was out the night before?

That's what some people were saying. I wasn't saying that - I was just making a point

He's not one I've ever seen out in Swindon, unlike messrs Pook, Nicholas and Fallon who seemed to enjoy Walkabout on friday.
He lives here in the binge drinking capital of the uk so he doesn't go out in Swindon.

Just seeking clarification. How else can we separate truth from myth?

Debate these:

Being out with mates doesn't automatically mean "on the lash" or "pissed".

Pook is the only one with a drink driving offence.
