Fuck off they're young men if they don't go to clubs they might resort to homosexuality.... By the time they're 35 they're too fucking old and settled down to go out clubbing. There is a happy medium. The reports on here of players drinking aren't encouraging, but don't believe all you read, and Saturday night is a chance for players to drown their sorrows! You're a good lad really Walrus. I know that nobody is perrfect but it is possible to have a good time without getting lashed was the point I was trying to make. Just did it very badly thats all!

This makes me laugh the two people sticking up for drinking are the nicho maffia as they call themselves. I dont think anyone has a problem with players going out but its in moderation. Ive heard of mates (a bar man in a club) serving players like collins and nicholas getting wrecked and drinking more than most people would on this site on a huge night out! Thats what annoys people.
Most fans say they would be model professionals however very hard to do it I imagion. I know rhys only drinks a red wine then drives most of times. I guess were see the difference when evans makes it to championship and others end up in the conference. Just to clarify. There's only one of "the two people" here and I'm not sticking up for drinking as you put it. I'm against lies, half truths and innuendo besmirching professionals who have nothing to do with the alcoholism of Roberts. Blame Sonic for the Nicho Mafia label. He invented it. We don't call ourselves anything. Isn't Rhys your mate? I bet Nicho much prefers a quiet night in with his girl. Don't you?

Anyways, how do you know sonic isn't a 6 foot 7 monster that could take on any of the players?   (He's a pie eating pussycat really. )

I think you have to distinguish between the aims of the players and the aims of the fans. Most of the time these are pretty similar. The players aims are to play well to further their career, the fan's want the players to play well so the clubs fortunes improve. However like in any other career it's up to the individual if they want to endanger their future aims by going out and getting lashed. The fans might not like it but eventually it will damage the player's career more than the club. The player will drop out of the first team and eventually be replaced.
The situation is worse for the players at this level as it's very easy for a players to slip into non-league obscurity. So if a player wants to damage his career prospects by damaging their health and fitness through over-drinking or anything else then it's going to harm them more than anybody else eventually and so is ultimately their decision.

Exactly. It's not something that the we can preach, it's an individual incentive not to get too drunk (if they do at all). This is the basic point I was trying to put across.

Somehow I think you only made half of the point and I made the other half. Together it's the perfect compliment, but without each other it isn't nearly as good. A bit like beer and myself.

Well this thread got very interesting. To be honest I don't give a shit anymore about players being out on Saturday nights.
As for Nicho I hope he just keeps on doing whatever he's doing socially as he's been one of our better players this season.
And for anyone's that interested I do know a good dentist.

Well that's not strictly true, as Heywod still lives in Swindon, and they do enjoy a Saturday night beverage together. A Saturday night out for footballers is just the same a s a Friday night for the typical 9-5 office brigade. You get to let your hair down and see some mates.
Jan - I am so glad he's our leftback and not Duke. Excellent run in the team.

yes but the Shitty manager doesnt let Heywood drink so much ? Yes because he tells all the bars in Swindon not to serve him anything but J20 and the occassional glass of cola
