crouch is still learning, and even he admitted that siting on the bench helps him to learn from the more experienced players, who have many caps for england. i think hes good for club and  for country      Cheesy

Experience is something that can only be gained in time, and Crouch is very young.

Glad to see England won, even though I missed the game through work.

And I swear I will never come on here when drunk again. It is wayyyyy too hard to type!

England 1-2 Argies

Peter Crouch 2-0 Argies

Yes..... Beers

Come on believe, we were losing when we came on then won. Lets not get mixed up by the fact he didnt score either goal and Owen got them both, it was all down to Crouch that victory. Premiership golden boot awaits, followed by the World Cup golden boot and a 56million transfer to Real Madrid.

Best player in the world, I think so.....better than Pele

Dv, you're taking an extremely simplistic view and I'm not surprised you didn't watch the game, you must've barely watched Crouchy at all.

So you're trying to make out that because Crouchy didn't score that the victory has nothing to do with him. Well that's simply nonsense and you'd surely realise that if you'd seen the game.

If you can recognise that David Duke was a better player for us than he was given credit for, which is a fair point but not accept that Crouchy is a better player than he's given credit for then you've clearly got an agenda against Crouchy and won't ever give him credit.

Nobody is saying he's better than Pele or worth £50 million but he is definitely good enough to be on the bench for England at the 2006 world cup, he proved that today. He had exactly the desired effect when he came on and situations like today where we're losing or drawing towards the end of the game are exactly what we need him for. Sven made the right decision picking Crouchy in the squad and bringing him on, though he left that a bit late. You wouldn't bring on Defoe because he's not really going to cause any different problems to Owen. There's nothing about Defoe that will scare the Argentinian defence too much and that's coming from a Spurs fan, you bring on Crouchy because he can scare them. He can make things happen.

Yes we were losing when he came on then and we won and yes Crouchy played a part in both goals, this happens every week. You keep believing it's a coincedence, you keep believing the superb touch that set up Rooney was a fluke, just like the one that set up Gerrard last week and you keep being wrong.

I didnt read any of that, because well the post you quoted was me just being a twat. I did however watch a re-run of the game this morning.

Crouch did help Owen score, as he was what was between Owen and the defender.

Looked amazing! If rumours are to be believed, could be on his way to England during the transfer window.....would love to see him in the Premiership after that performance

its a pointless friendly that we will probably lose.

Oh well, can't get them all right :-))(  Smiley .The trouble is now of course is that instead of everyone being too negative everyone is too positive, just because we beat the argies it doesn't mean we are going to win the world cup people.

lads, lasses - you should have been there.

No one has mentioned it here, but Joe Cole was fantastic when he came on.

We clearly miss Ashley Cole though, Konchesky did OK when he came on, was probably at fault for their second, but really the Rgies were very scary when they went forward down the right - if only because of their haircuts.

Rio Ferdinands flying kick + elbow 6 foot inside our penalty area in the second half surprised the Argie so much that he didn't hink anyone would be that stupid and had no time to dive - likewise Beckam's little short pass a cross the goal mouth which was a perfect pass to the oppo had they realised.

Owen, as ever completely anonymous, then takes his chances.  I think Crouch did have a part to play, especially the last goal when he basically picked up Owen and chucked him at the ball rugby line out stylee.  We cheered him when he was warming up, and he looked genuinly surprised, poor lad.

Was basically sitting on our goal line second half - the one that Robinson stopped on the line, looked to me to be well over the line - great refereeeing !!

Since its the only thing that has actually happened in Geneva since the beginning of time, it was always going to be a good evening.  Although the Swiss did try their best to make a balls up of it:

No signposts telling you which gate to go in to get you your seat - and no one inside fucking well knew either !  Missed the kick off along with about 5,000 other fans who were randomly running around, jumping barriers etc. trying to find a way in.  The Swiss are basically very proud of themselves that their organisation prevented a riot - which probably would never had hapened, but if you do that for Euro 2008 and had 5,000 German and Dutch outside all together because they couldn't work out how to segregate them, there would have been trouble.  Also, the ground only holds 30,000 - I suspect it is too small for a tournament ground.

Sat next to a fairly tasty Argentinian bird with a big mouth - wasn't very pleased with me when I photographed her at the end looking miserable !

Here's two pictures that show the part Crouchy played in the winner.

As you can see Crouchy is supporting Owen and also preventing Samuel from challenging for the header, he's too concerned with trying to pull Crouchy back allowing Owen to get a free header which he scored with Crouchy's help, absolutely no chance Owen would've got that goal if Crouchy hadn't been there.

Rooney agrees with me:

You try and tell me that that is costing Owen a simple header Dave,  it's the exact opposite Crouchy is the reason Owen had the simple header.

Also, Riquelme and Rooney were equally outstanding. Both key players for thier country's at next years world cup.
