Best £17 I ever spent! Spent all night playing it. Started with the mighty Spiders in SFL division 3. Top of the league

Quick update on my game. Having survived my first season in the premiership, finishing 13th after a late surge up the table, Im now well into the 2009/2010 season.

6th in the league with 29 points from 17 games. Man Utd are in a lowly 16th, admittedly with 4 games in hand. Might be worth a cheeky bid for Rooney or somebody in the summer if I can raise enough cash.

Signing of the season has to be Gregory Le Gall. Signed on a free from Deportivo and has 12 goals in 16 league games.

For a team expected to be fighting relegation for another year, we seem to be doing ok.

is he a regen? not on my game.

in december of my second season in the prem, finished 16th last season so the aim is to rebuild and consolidate this season. so far i'm 7th after 17 games, which isn't too shoddy. a top 10 finish is my aim for this season, although i've still got a tendency to leak goals.

my best player is andré luiz, i've had no problems with him so far - perhaps it's a different bloke although his personality is "tempremental". he's a wonderkid Cool

i signed pongolle in the summer for £4m, but he's not been able to get a striking berth as morientes is a great partner for andre luiz and in his absence i've given zeb a run out and he's scored 5 in 5 so far. pongolle's been used as either a sub up front or a right-winger as i'm a bit weak there, bentley's average but i have no other options except for an inury prone dutch winger.

What formation and passing style works best for the first season in League Two?.

Any tips on who to sign?.

I was just about to get Jevons from City and the bastard transfer window shut.

i signed a couple of keepers and that was it, just played a standard 4-4-2 with slow tempo, full width, short passing. i won the league with ease.

just sold ZEB GESANG-GOTTOWT ZEB to chelsea for £13m and signed him on loan til the end of the season, job's a good 'un.

Apparently someone tried just the standard 4-4-2 (no tweaks) and tested it against other people's tweaked formations. It did quite well, so maybe too much farting around isn't always worth it with regards to tactics.

I must be doing something right though  Wink

Started out at St Etienne in 2008/2009 season, so it looks like it. Had a look for that Zeb Gesang bloke and he is cack on my game so I'll stick with what I've got.

I seem to suffer from this as well. Did ok in my first season, in league 1, conceded 53 in 46 games. But since then I have conceded more each year, around the 60-65 mark last year in the premiership. I've given up trying to play defensively and try to nick a game 1-0 against the big teams. These days I stick with the 4-3-3 which served me well in league one and the championship and go for the "Im going to score one more than you" approach.

Looking at the screen shot I think you Andre Luiz may be different to mine, infact I think mine is Andre Luis.

If it's a striker you are after you won't do much better than Piotr Wisniweski in the lower leagues, I signed him from a Polish side, Lechia Gdansk, for 18k in my first season. Has been 1st name on the team sheet every game until this season. Got me 65-70 goals in about 100 appearances, 12 of which were in the Premiership last year.

I found killing off games after going one or two up is the best way to concede less goals. Narrow the formation and time waste more and focus passing down the wings and probably play counter attack too (but only if you have 1 or 2 quick forwards).

If you have an attacking midfielder that is creative and maybe your playmaker, make his mentality more normal. I've found this draws out the defence and then leaves a bigger gap for the strikers to exploit. You midfielder also seems to get involved just as much in attacking play (especially if given a free role)

another problem that occasionally rears it's ugly head is consistency, or rather the fact i'll go on a long winning streak followed by a losing streak. i'm currently 6 games without a win and am throwing away leads etc, despite my tactical tweaks, changes of personnel and trying to get morale up nothing seems to work.

if you want to get morale up play a mid week friendly against your reserve team....you should win about 5-0 and morale will go up

Also I tend to encourage the team at half time and then say well done for their efforts at full time, even if they lose (unless it's 5-0 and they get 5-6 for ratings).

Seems to do the trick and they play better. If you say fantastic too much they get lazy
