Or maybe Clarke at CB, Mabete on the bench & Ball alongside Oldaker, assuming that Kilkenny is out.

Might be an occasion tomorrow where a bit more experience is required.

I'd play all three. Assuming Kirkman and Kilkenny are unavailable:

Ripley

McGregor

Mabete
Wright
Wilson-Brown

Munroe

Oldaker
Clarke

Drinan
Smith
Prince
A very interesting front three which I would like to see...

Sacrilege I know - but would we play better without Smith. Less hoofy, anyway.

Be interesting to see if Ameen is involved tomorrow. Holloway’s reason for leaving him out v Cardiff was lame in the extreme.

Quite funny that Ameen is ranked 14th for minutes played before Cardiff… yet the 13 that have played more minutes all made the squad for Cardiff.

Very much so. Was the perfect game to throw him into but oh well. I’m still not convinced he’s the messiah (glimpses here and there such as vs Bradford), but how will we ever know if he doesn’t get a proper go at it

Could even play Smith at the back... he's arguably our best defender....

Drove up today, took 7 hours!  Suspect it will be the last 12.30 away game I'll go to.  Rarely miss an away game but ffs.

Recommend the Rifle range Inn.  20 mins walk from ground.

Pre match no one ever said it was gonna be easy in The Up Steps Inn.
Thank you Inspirals.

Our lot will certainly need to step up today in front of the mithering hundreds glued to a screen.

No time for a swift one in the Fox & Pine unfortunately.
12:30 ko's are good for a quick getaway from bleak northern outposts* but are also detrimental to making the most of valuable drinking time.

*Not that anywhere is particularly bleak in the August sunshine.
A Tuesday night in December, maybe.

Travelled up yesterday to mitigate the loss of ale intake.
Manchester, so much to answer for, but being a fine drinking city is not one of them.
Won’t be wearing the chufty badge though.

Anyway, Sky tv. Up yours. Sideways.
The important information about your subscription letter is never a harbinger of price reduction is it.

Just about recovered from the 2nd early season encounter with the merciless Tooting Beer Monster & the 2am finish in Cardiff after the game on Tuesday.

Two league games in and it's been a patchy start.
Holloway should maybe concentrate less on poring over cctv footage in the relentless single minded pursuit of the Walsall seat chucker and more on establishing a consistent level of performance over the 90 mins.

“I will find you...”. No, no you won’t but someone whose job it is might.

Just want to see us win football matches, don’t care how it’s done.
3 points > entertainment.

Very early days & the rickety fragile optimism is still in place.

Possibly a good time to tackle a promoted side as there is still a step up in quality & it might take time for them to settle in. Cue a deflating defeat then.

Would I be right in thinking that Oldham are the only club that we’ve played in all 4 divisions?

A bit of a bogey team at one stage, if I remember.

So, Oldham gave us & the world the magnificent Inspiral Carpets & we gave them John Kelly & possibly made a profit as well.

The lucky red Inspirals t shirt is in use today.
The “cool as fuck” one is normally saved for the washing line just to upset the neighbours.

I do hope that the transfer window swings gently closed without any major outgoings.

A sixth season in L2 would be unbearable.

Anyway, enjoy the game and keep yer (Farfisa) organs tuned.

Had a quick glance at Oldham's team these days

A very experienced midfield pairing of Tom Conlon and Ryan Woods. Kind of feel like this might be where the game is won or lost. Our midfield structure has been very questionable so far.

This reminds me, I need to get my tickets for Roadmender in November! Cheers Bob. Great read as always. I'll have one for you today, WhatsApp/livescore updates for me today. Not got a clue what Holloway's tombola machine pulls out today.

I had to look at the table for that season to remind myself of every team. Would Coventry also be a team we've played in all 4 divisions?

I don't think we've played them in L2...
