Jack Payne probably.

Don't think Ofoborh did much wrong when he came on if I had to pick a man, but none of the above is very tempting to pick

It was probably touched on the MDT, which i haven't read back on yet, but Jack Payne's performance last night made me really pine for an old player for the first time in a long time. Colchester had pace and guile in attack and easily dealt with anything we threw at them, which to be Frank, was almost nothing.

We looked slow, ponderous and devoid of any idea. The amount of blocked crosses was irritating. (mainly from Cox) i thought Sobowale got just about pass marks going forward, but across the whole team, absolutely nothing of any value whatsoever. We look a defeated, sorry bunch.

Thinking about this overnight:
- I didn't understand why Sobowale got subbed. He seemed bright and to offer a threat. The guy he was up against was quick and Sobowale's pace was useful to try to counter it
- Hall was abysmal. Looking forward to him sitting out a few more games. If he is a high earner, then lets please get rid
- Delaney was supposed to be a good signing. Not seen that
- Cox had a shocker. Poor in both directions and was blowing out of his arse early in the second half
- Kilkenny is too lightweight as a DM. He is not a QB either. Tried, but was ineffective
- Drinan looked like the man that fell to Earth for the first 20 mins. Once the game was lost, he seemed to run around like a headless chicken for the rest of the match
- Think Smith had the hump. Body language poor and noticed he ran at full pelt off the pitch at 1/2 time
- Tshimanga is not good enough for L2 by a long way. Offered nothing
- Glatzel had the first touch of a rapist. Has one position he can play and where played last night was not it!
- Cotterill ambled around and let off 3 rasping shots. Not sure I saw much else from him
- I heard Hawes say that Longelo and McGregor combined well on the right. Not sure I agree. Found myself wondering what Longelo offered
- McGregor struggled going forward and had to resort to a lot of the dark arts to keep their winger in check. Think he showed committment, but was lucky to stay on the field
- Ofoborh was the only one who looked like a professional footballer. Played simple balls in midfield and passed then moved. Quite what he has done to be overlooked by both Kennedy and Holloway is a mystery.
- Wright had one moment of defensive excellence in an evening full of mediocrity. His throws were poor as were his corners too.
- Minturn did better than most of the rest of the defence except for one howler. He's not going to improve just sitting on the bench. He's not good enough for L2 imho, but I'd rather have him on the pitch learning than watching the shite that gets picked ahead of him!
- Bycroft. He doesn't inspire confidence at the best of times, but last night he didn't make one of those big saves that good keepers often do to rally the troops. The only thing I remember was a couple of flaps.

Its difficult to tell now if that was the worst performance this season or the worst performance ever. Its all very mediocre at the moment. I do hope Holloway moves some of these players on, but I don't have confidence that he (and the owners) will bring in anyone better.

I don't really understand why, if Delaney was so unfit why not play Minturn? I've said it a while now but Hall looks a busted flush, starting to see why we signed him as I suspect he didn't have a huge amount of offers in the summer.

Tshimanga irritates the shit out of me, definitely doesn't look a league striker. Reckon Smith lost his shit at HT and was forced off. Can't imagine he's the type of guy you want in a relegation dogfight. Personally I'd drop Smith and have Drinan in the centre with 2 more creative players in the front positions, Glatzel and Huh??

The GK and defence is a concern, shaking like a sitting dog every time the ball goes anywhere near the box.

Bycroft - I think he has potential. That's not enough for starting.

Delaney hasn't recovered from being injured for the first 2 months. He's poor at the moment

Wright has dipped, understandably.

Hall - I thought hall would be good but unavailable a lot. I was half right.

Cox. Yeah. No. Yeah. No. I don't know

Sobo - makes the odd mistake, recovers well and at least has pace.

Kilkenny - one of our better players but also reminds me of kinsella and mcEchran at times

Coterill - does have something but is way off in every he's being asked to do. Just not the type you need in a battle.

Drinan - works hard. Not a scorer

Tshimanga - works hard. Not a footballer

Smith - can score headers.

What a team..

Good summary that. I think Wright and Kilkenny are good players but badly managed like Minturn,Glatzel and McGurk. I really believe if Minturn had been properly coached over the last 3 managers' tenure, he'd be a competent L2 defender now and a regular starter
