Depends when Castrol came on board.

Obviously they became our shirt sponsor in ‘95 but we’d had the half green diamond badge since ‘91.
As an aside and in danger of being the most boring post ever (albeit Reg would have approved), I always assumed that the change from Burmah to Castrol was just a rebranding at the sponsors request as they were basically the same company but Castrol was a bigger brand in the UK.

I think that was mentioned before and the jokes of a star and stripes style strip as it's the 4th July.

Heard the gold is one stripe on each side of the home shirt.

Looks like there's some kind of event taking place to go with it. A collaboration between the club, the OSC and the Trust.

I'm intrigued the event talks about thanking the fans and giving back - so clearly nothing to do with Clem - maybe a good marketing ploy for once

Anyone know if we are sticking with the Adidas template model again ?

Think this Friday is an FSA thing, looks like it's across all clubs. Maybe announcing kit prices are to be capped to help support paying fans, or a larger % back to clubs or something. Thats a total guess though, ive no clue what it's about.

Edit - i think I'm miles off -

My Club, My Shirt" is a Football Supporters' Association (FSA) initiative, part of the Fans for Diversity campaign, that celebrates the diversity of football fans by showcasing them in their club shirts. The project, which began at Cardiff City, features photographic portraits of fans from various backgrounds, highlighting the idea that football clubs belong to everyone.

Riiiight.

Sounds nice enough but I can see it disappointing people with the way they're marketing it!

Really? I mean some people always get the wrong idea. You can't expect to keep them all happy.

A proper kit release in person. Perhaps a cheesy fashion show reveal. Get some current players, maybe an old one or two talking about thier favourite shirts over the years. Involve some DEI fans, gift them the new kits as part of the process. Pre-sell the shirts to those in the room before general sale from Sat onwards.

Just win win right. Better than the kit reveal i remember recently filmed at the gypo fairground that tookover the club carpark in the summer.

I quite liked the fairgound reveal, wasn't it the one with Brewitt's dog?

I'm sure the event will be absolutely fine, I just think a few people are going to read the marketing so far as being a bit more than a kit launch. Maybe they'll have a new signing too!

The Trust, STFC, the FSA and OSC are launching a new Project MY TOWN MY SHIRT, an exciting and striking initiative to celebrate the Diversity of Swindon Town fans.

There will be other aspects in the evening including special guests and Club staff.... Last chance to book space through Club website as Trust guest list is maxed out!

Funnily enough we didn’t win a single game in that blue/gold away shirt, so hopefully we try and avoid any similarities.
