I'm firmly in the white camp. That's our traditional kit as far as I'm concerned...

I like both kits and can't get too excited over the fact that that the deal has been done with Pro Direct rather than Adidas directly. We're Swindon Town not Bayern fucking Munich...what does it matter? I've never been bothered by the 'generic template' thing either. We're only going to be wearing it for one season and once it has our players names on it, our sponsors and our badge (iron on, stick on, sew on or whatever) that will be individual enough for me.

Pay attention in the video and its red shorts for home, white shorts for away.

I agree i prefer white home, especially with a basic shirt. I kind of think black shorts for away would have been nice.

Didn't watch the video...schoolboy error! Yes, white shorts for home, black/dark shorts for the away kit which is pretty pale anyway to start with...

Better than last seasons home kit. At least with them being basic templates this time there’s never going to a shortage of stock you’d hope.

Edit: I see there’s going to be a price increase compared to last season, that’s a bit shameful for a templated shirt.

Most the adidas kits we’ve had have been templated…. As are most of the kits in the EFL.

The price won’t be any more than other fans are paying.

But I don’t get how it’s going to cost more for a templated kit versus the personalised ones of the past few seasons so it’ll just mean an even bigger profit margin.

Obviously if you don’t want to pay then don’t buy one but overpriced football shirts are big news at the moment so it would be nice for a club to make a stand against this trend.

The overpriced shirt discourse is around kits that are sold with a performance variety at £125 and a fan variant at £85. Our kits will not be close to that price!

Football shirt pricing in general is ludicrous.

All kits now a days, rightly or wrongly, are overpriced. Whether they’re templated or not.

I just don’t think it’s fair to use it as another stick to hit the club with.

You buy a kit to support the club. I don't see the need for top clubs to charge £100, but lower league clubs need all the help they can get.

I popped into club shop on Tuesday to pick up season ticket cards for the little ones, and the shop is nearly stripped bare. Very much in the throes of being revamped ready for the new kit to arrive soon... so, not ready yet, no.

In his defence, it was a previous fuckwit that made Gold one of the primary colours on our logo.

Can we individually choose our own colour/design or do the manufactures call the shots. Always fancied the Fiorientina kit as an away option.

It will be one of the Prem/Champ templates from 2 or 3 seasons ago, and then colours applied based on their catalogue/stock i would think.

Turns out it’s a Red, White, Gold home kit - not a gold kit.

Whilst Gold isn’t really a traditional Swindon colour - I our kits with a tertiary colour.

Red white and gold might be ok for a change. Its not like its yellow. Didn't we have a load of black on one of the kits a few years ago?

Was a nice kit & the black trim at least made it look a bit different from Middlesbrough or Bristol City.

Personally would have much rather the trim was green - which despite not being on the current badge I still think of as our tertiary colour after red & white. Again, that green (for me anyway) is what at least sets us apart from the plethora or teams with just red & white kits.

This where you need a Reg.  I am sure Green is in our history, but the more recent usage in the kit coincided with Ricky Hunt and Castrol being involved in the early 90's.  The away kit was still a thing of beauty though.

Obviously they became our shirt sponsor in ‘95 but we’d had the half green diamond badge since ‘91.

It was weird how the DGI kits had a blue trim on them. Originally did think it was green when saw it before I saw in person.

Lonsdale re-added green trim in 05/06/07?ish & not sure we’ve had it since have we…

As an aside and in danger of being the most boring post ever (albeit Reg would have approved), I always assumed that the change from Burmah to Castrol was just a rebranding at the sponsors request as they were basically the same company but Castrol was a bigger brand in the UK.

Think this Friday is an FSA thing, looks like it's across all clubs. Maybe announcing kit prices are to be capped to help support paying fans, or a larger % back to clubs or something. Thats a total guess though, ive no clue what it's about.

Really? I mean some people always get the wrong idea. You can't expect to keep them all happy.

A proper kit release in person. Perhaps a cheesy fashion show reveal. Get some current players, maybe an old one or two talking about thier favourite shirts over the years. Involve some DEI fans, gift them the new kits as part of the process. Pre-sell the shirts to those in the room before general sale from Sat onwards.

Just win win right. Better than the kit reveal i remember recently filmed at the gypo fairground that tookover the club carpark in the summer.

I'm sure the event will be absolutely fine, I just think a few people are going to read the marketing so far as being a bit more than a kit launch. Maybe they'll have a new signing too!

Meh, but then again as I haven't bought a home shirt since 93/94 I'm really not the target audience. It's red that's all that matters in the big scheme of things.

I don’t think there’s an issue with using templates, it’s the fact they are out of date templates used last season.

Last year it was identical colour and template. This year the template may have been in use before, but not this colour set. Its very much ours.

Also the link on club website to pro direct shows white shorts with red stripes and gold detail, with red shorts and gold detail.

I think it looks pretty smart honestly, and nobody has these three colours.

I like the gold because it’s just that little bit different & rightly or wrong it’s a colour that features on our club badge.

The weird fake colour thing does not look so good however.

Design is basic as it usually is with a plain red shirt with white trim.

Do the club get the same amount of income from the shirts if they are bought on the pro-direct website versus via the club shop? I suspect it's probably the same but curious nonetheless.

The home kit is absolutely fine fwiw. Don't really like the fake collar, but it's red and white and doesn't look ridiculous so job done. I preferred last season's home shirt.

I don't know, what retail value is if we sell through Pro Direct opposed to club shop. I have  heard rumours were not allowed to sell in the club shop this year. Wouldn't surprise me but untill they're either in or not who knows. This may have been mentioned on here so that could be where I heard it

You would think that the club gets less from any pro direct sales, as the club doesn't take any risk on buying stock/getting it ready to ship and then send it.

That would make sense. Ive just asked the question for the upcoming advisory Board. Ive also added a bit about what steps the club are taking to ensure the club is well stocked on matchdays.
