Can someone from the Trust put this question forward at the next advisory board and with a conclusive answer the following month please. By conclusive, I mean that I don't want the answer in the AB minutes to be ''we will check and get back to you on this'':

Q: The club has lots of small sponsors for many different things. From toilets to handkerchiefs and no doubt there is also a sponsor for the ghosts of Beversbrook now but on a serious note - could I ask if these sponsors ran their own due diligence on the club, before putting any sponsor funds forward to the club?

I appreciate this may take some time but I'm certain Anthony Hall is a very competent CEO; there should be plenty of records noted where such due diligence requests were submitted by potential sponsors. After all, they are handing over funds from their business to the club or possibly for services rendered so this shouldn't be too difficult.

If no data at all can be provided at all, or an answer comes back suggesting that no potential sponsor requested due diligence then I would be very surprised indeed.
Not sure how the club can answer this - it's a question for each of the individual sponsors who will have their own processes.

Eg A small, local, fan owned business probably doesn't do any DD, the larger ones like Nationwide may do although I'd be surprised if it's anything more than a look at experian tbh.

I just sent these to be asked

Quote
Why are the ownership hanging around, when there is clearly more fan discontent week by week?

What are the ownership gaining from being here? They say the club is losing money more and more each year and is having to be propped up with ownership loans - what are they gaining from this?

Why are there so many hangers on associated with the club?

Director loans - as stated at the Fans Forum, on recording and in public domain, can the owner confim these are being written off?

Are the ownership only interested in ground redevelopment to make a quick buck and sell up? Lets not forget the ground ownership wouldn’t have been possible but for the incredible genorisity of Nigel Eady. His estate bought the ground, not the club.

I suspect they wont get asked but will wait and see

You're ambitious. I'd ask for a breakdown of admin fees first.

You'll get neither answered seriously.

Tbf, I do mention the first part. The club would know or should have logged/have record of any requests relating to due diligence. IF they are as transparent as they say they are or aspiring to be, something like this should be pretty much bread and butter. Not asking for a comprehensive and detailed list but their {expected} lack of answer or evidence will be very telling {for me}.

RE: Small/local business. On the contrary. Any brand/business investing into a company probably should be making these types of request. Even if just as a matter of good practice. It goes without saying that if the company you invest in/sponsor/offer services to and they are seemingly dodgy, incompetent or have nefarious activities surrounding them - this can also impact negatively on the brand/business that is supporting said company. I would say locally that might have a more larger impact on your brand from a trust perspective. People will ask questions {like they are with Coe Capital currently} about said brand/businesses own integrity if they maintain support.

As we saw with the end of the Lee Power era, several sponsors withdrew as they clearly didn't want to be associated with the club {or least, the owner of the club}.

Alas, I expect nothing of substance but this will actually give quite a big answer in itself. The equivalent of when  someone under the cosh gives a 'no comment'. I'm actually expecting a 'we don't know' type of answer with lots of deflecting sentences wrapped around it.

I know bud, but that's almost kind of the point of me asking it. Them not answering questions, just shows them up even more and disproves their supposedly unflinching stance on ''transparency''

Good Qs Tans. I imagine one and three will be answered...somewhat, and the others will be ignored, whilst going on about things they haven't had much or any hand in. Something like:

We are still committed to making STFC a club the fans can be proud of...with the recent unveiling of the Don Rodgers statue, celebrating the 1967 League Cup win, at Statue Park, the excellent facilities on offer at Foundation Park and part ownership of the County Ground with the fans, we believe the club is in a great place to springboard towards the next step. This is why we strongly believe in our values of transparency and the MoU that together we can make this club great again. The club does not have an hangers on and Clem is one percent an owner of the club. AFH

I'll both cry and laugh my tits off if this is anything close to the response.

Questions for the next AB please.

If we're struggling financially and have hit our budget, where will the funds for ground re development be coming from?

Transparency on the admin expenses and explain what they are and who they're paid to?
