Just bought a new laptop and checked it's working etc, but don't want to go through the set up screens yet. Trouble is I can't switch the fucking thing off. No shut down icon on the toolbar, and when I press the power button it switches the screen off but a light continues flashing on the side. Any ideas? It's an HP.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Just throw it against the wall, that usually works.

Heard from a good friend that it’s harder to switch a laptop off when you have to close down the 100 odd tabs from watching too much porn too

Not that old chestnut again (a comedic high point on what has become an ever more depressing TEF in recent times).
