A clean sheet as we manage to concede nil corners and nil free kicks in our own half. 1-0

I recall this being a Hoddle tactic against John Beck’s Cambridge team.
He revealed after the game (which we won) that the team had practiced all week not putting the ball out for a corner or throw in as this is where Cambridge were really good.

So maybe it’s not as mad as it might seem Cheesy

John Becks Cambridge were very similar to the crazy gang!

Beck's long ball playing style, despite its success, was heavily criticised in the media, and by fans and managers of other clubs, particularly Glenn Hoddle then of Swindon Town.[2] Their style of play was similar to that of Wimbledon

Watching the Barnsley and Wednesday game.
Both team loaded with big, physical powerful players.

Would get absolutely battered on the pitch here.
Need to get some physicality without doubt. Weak as piss currently.

All them big players and 6 goals conceded between them. Hardly a glowing endorsement.

Not attending due to family commitments, so expect we'll manage to win it.

My first Town game since the Exeter game pre Covid, taking 2 family members to this for their first visit to the CG the day after my sons Wedding in Swindon.

I expect nothing.

Hope everything goes well bud! I won't be watching this one which means we are bound to be excellent and take all 3 points!

To be fair the Duke didn't say that they were decent big and powerful, he was just commenting on their size and athleticism, so his point is still a valid one.  You can't moan that we are made up of too many small technical players in one breath and then look to pick holes in a valid point being made that most people agree with.  I think most posters have highlighted the fact that we haven't got any size, strength or presence in our team for most of the season.

The Wellens promotion side wasn't particularly big, we did OK then in this division.

Clearly not at Rochdale then to witness the mighty Dale, bottom of the league putting 4 past us?
Watching that last night we would have not been equipped to stand up to both sides. It wasn’t pretty but effective.

It's not just about size, it about the power and athleticism as well.  Benda, Baudry, Grant, Yates, Doyle, Lyden, Woolery are a lot more physical and in most cases bigger than Brynn, Clayton, Khan/Cain, Williams, RHM, George Mac, Hutton.  Even Read liked a tackle.

The only real physical players we have available are Austin and Brewitt, and one of those was an after thought and based on circumstance.
