All a bit Flitcroft period this, but having an experienced centre forward who has played at a higher level has paid dividends. He just looks like he knows how to get involved where he should do. A better version of having Jephcott.
Hepburn-Murphy is a bit like Dabre. Not in style, but in the sense he is playing like someone who has not really played much eleven a side men’s football, which he hasn’t. He is several years behind in developing the skills you need. Totally lacking awareness of what is going on around him, running down blind alleys etc. You can see why you would sign him at this level though, as a project. If we can speed his development then maybe you have a player there.
Just keep getting the ball to Hutton and let him cross all day. Smith is a mess trying to mark Austin.

The replacement 4th official is my son's old football manager Colin Nunn - he is a steward on match days. He is a qualified ref, but I have seen him referee - better hope the rookie doesn't go down

I’m a little bit behind.
Austin - Couldn’t ask for much more! Khan & Hutton - playing well RHM - Greedy. Needs to relax Wakeling - Poor first touch and seems to be just a tad too slow

I wouldn’t like us to play with Khan and Iandolo as a midfield pairing too often.

RHM not making great decisions but looks like there's a player in there somewhere. Khan and Wakeling both playing well. Austin is Austin, exactly what we needed.
Still look vulnerable though, need another goal to finish them off.

Trying not to draw too much since their red, but before that lots more promise going forward. Austin’s touch and ability to stay involved, drop deeper and help create is a real treat compared to the usual options. I was worried he may only get a handful of touches all game! We look very capable of conceding at some point on the break, (get well soon Clayton). 2 goal cushion a must for the second half. Thought the red was harsh on first viewing, but probably the right call.

I would add....
Williams pretty quiet by his standards, Macdonald doing well, Brennan looking ok but made a couple of errors, FBT looks better at CB than LB, Iandolo a couple of good touches but looks a bit lost at times.
Brynn at his usual standard.

Forgot to mention Hutton. Excellent both going forward and in defence too.

RHM will either make better decision after a run of games and be a decent player …or… this is his final form.
No inbetween imo

First time I thought his touch was heavy and keeper out to intercept. I was wrong.

Agree with others that RHM is lacking some awareness and overtrying on the ball with a variable touch.
Nevertheless I can see the promise and Austin with the RHM and Wakeling either side is an interesting proposition for defenders and, imo, giving our midfield the options to speed up our attacking.

Its a shame about Reed as I think he could have stamped his mark on this game instead of Iandolo.

Hutton cross to Austin but the keeper just gets to it and clears.
