style over substance.

not boring, a very good 25 opening minutes. But

possession: 64.8%
shots on target: 1

Brynn is uncharacteristically flapping at crosses too

That was probably the most Swindony half Swindon have ever Swindoned. Dominated the first 25 minutes to the point that the home fans were in uproar at their team's total inability to get intot he game, but we created nothing then go to bits at a few set pieces and could have been 2 or 3 down.

Game's very much there to be won as Colchester are dreadful, but we need to improve massively in the final third.

And for all the hype of Austin returning, goodness me it’ll just be even more frustrating watching him get fuck all service like poor Jephcott had that half.

Say what you will about mckirdy but the whole team and coaching staff would have heard about the shit service goi g into the striker.

I challenge anyone to find a better half to summarise  us as a team this season.  Lots of possession, not much of it threatening.  No threat at all upfront, no clear plan of how to the the front 3 involved in the final third within the width of the box.  Midfield looks pretty, looks uninterested in tracking and doing the dirty work properly.  Defenders who are prone to losing men when run at.

Shade, Iandolo, MacDonald, Jephcott are all players who simply do not have a positive enough impact on a game.  Would be happy to replace all four this transfer window and most of the players not playing today, which is a damning indictment of recruitment.

Williams is head and shoulders above but offers not threat out wide that can't be covered.  His threat is central moving wide if need be.  The front three are all individuals.

I really do not like Lavinier at left back, he has no trust in his left foot at all, so every move through him comes back in.  He is at least a prospect but he has to be right I think.

Such a frustrating team to watch.

Agree with all of that - the half was a perfect microcosm of our season really.

Colchester are going to sit in now with a packed defence. I'd drop Williams into midfield and bring on RHM for Iandolo. Run at their defence.

We’re so good at giving a boost to teams with zero confidence. You’ve got to come out hard and fast against teams like this, but we’ve learnt nothing from Crewe and Crawley. If we’d scored first they’d have collapsed but instead we fannied around, gave up the initiative and now we’re the ones who are nervous and disorganised. Fucking Groundhog Day.

I think the only positive is - it can’t be worse than Colchester away last season.

They would’ve but more importantly, McKirdy was able to create something for himself out of nothing at times. Jephcott and Austin are not of that ilk.

Colchester took two seconds from kick off to lose possession. They're shit. We simply have to win.
