Whilst your point about corruption is a fair one. Not sure who hosts the WC has ever been decided on that nation being good at football. I mean if the infrastructure is there then that Nation could / should be able to host. Obviously that point doesn’t really work here. …but…like you have F1 race tracks in countries that don’t even have any professional drivers representing them |

South Africa are the only host nation not to get out of their group.
No host nation has ever failed to win a group game.
Tournament football is a month long competition, Grand Prix is a one day thing. There is supposed to be a legacy from hosting a WC.
