I'm walking the Stroud 5 Valleys Walk tomorrow: 22 miles for the Meningitis Trust. Reg enjoyed popping over to Stroud. His ghost tomorrow will walk part of the way and say, 'Great win. 2-1. Never a happy hunting ground, Grimsby. Even in the days when Donald brought home a basket of fish as man of the match.'

Good man. Really miss Reg's musings on here.

Pre match taking the medicinal waters in The Coliseum Picture Theatre.
Or coffee in this case.
Might be better served by taking in some bracing estuarine air along the prom.
Is that good for a bout of consumption?
Will try not to cough too much in the away end.

Makes a refreshing change to not be coming here in the depths of Winter.

Bit of deja vu for those making the journey by road I guess.

The warm inner glow of an easy win on last visit.
Only 2 of that matchday squad left now.
Think it will be very competitive today.

Played Grimsby on this day once before, in 1994.
Two late goals in an entertaining 3-2 home win.
Same again in our favour would do.

Looking at their squad, the left back Glennon might be thrilled to know that he plays for Swindon in the alternate reality of my FM22.
Otis Khan, once mooted as a possible transfer target.
Not quite as many clubs as Trevor Benjamin but he's getting there.
Also the forward Orsi, one season with Hungerford.
His numbers aren't bad albeit at mainly non league level.
One to keep an eye on today maybe.

Good to see the Maidstone Maldini back in the squad.
If he was fitter would be tempted to play him in the Williams role.
Good option to have for 15-20 minutes off the bench at the end.

Hopefully our hopes will not flounder on the banks of the Humber Estuary today.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Hutton to stand in for Williams and just pepper the 6 yard box with crosses?

I understand hes out injured and won't feature in todays game at all, he always looks quite handy against us.

So the rumour is that Reed is carrying a groin injury then and won't start today.

Khan for Reed, then. Wakeling for Williams. Jephcott no. 9.

Sounds good to me.

I could go for that, bring RHM on for the last 20 to create havoc.

Shame for Reed as he had just started getting into a bit of form the last couple of games.

Brave move by Grimsby in having no sub keeper on the bench.
