When was the last time you policed a pitch invasion?

The job the Wilts Police had to do last night was impossible. Nowhere near enough officers to make even a slight difference.

Enough police to stop invasions like last night will cost the club a fortune. They can't afford it so won't pay for it. The police won't do it for free because, if they do, moany cunts will complain about the increase in the police precept on their council tax.

200 officers in the ground might have made a difference but where do you get them from? Overtime or take them away from other duties and let the scum not at the football run free?

What an absolute cop out. Protecting women and kids is the absolute most basic fundamental thing you'd expect in that situation and they stand there filming Swindon fans with their thumbs up their asses.

Fuck off.

if the police line was moved back 10+ meters then that would have prevented/limited the sheer amount of missiles thrown on to us fans. a couple of police dogs behind the line- easy.

the bloke that threw the metal flare cage into the crowd hitting someone on the head happened right in front of a police officer- she spoke to him and then he wondered off.

you cant just say its impossible so let it happen. find a solution. if your going to let the fans go on the pitch- prioritise the players and surround them quickly- and protect the away fans. they had police and stewards on every side of the stadium watching.

the police side of things from the stand to the car park was brilliant- all segregated and left with no problems.

Exactly this. Walsall police had the right idea of segregating it off, although our invasion being a completely different tone it didn't matter as much anyway but still.

Bootlicking dross like he's spewing doesn't help our police do better and be held accountable. They were nothing short of a disgrace.

Just read through all the posts in the cold light of day and regarding the playing side it was all said very succinctly and add that personally being disappointed in the performance and result probably does not cover my feelings which will fade with time as they always do.

Regarding next season, I have bought my ST and just trust that our player outgoings/incomings and the style of play will make the Town an even better outfit than this one has been and can maintain the feel-good factor required.

Few things thrown back, but nothing major.

Not that I saw. Some bottles were thrown back and forwards but on the whole I think we were very restrained. A very small handful of people I think attempted to break seats to throw but I don't think that went anywhere.

An alternative view is that football fans could just act like grown up human beings, I see some of our fans are now playing bobby big bollocks on social media suggesting revenge next time Vale come to town.....

"An alternative view is people just shouldn't commit crimes and then we can hold the police even less accountable"

Brilliant.

If you look at the Sky footage you can see stewards escorting the ref off the pitch but nothing for our players in the centre circle.

Here we go, another load of posts from keyboard warriors who have never done the job or wouldn't even entertain the thought of trying.

Yes, I am an ex cop- 26+ years and proud of it. Got the scars and hospital record to prove it.

Everyone has an opinion on what the police do wrong and, you know what, sometimes they're right BUT the internet is absolutely swamped with shit from folk responding to things they see with less than half the story. There are far mor cops out there doing the right thing than the opposite but fuck it- they're the easy target.

I could go on but, to be honest, I am getting sick and tired of all the shit aimed at my former colleagues so bollocks to it all.

It would appear there are two sides to this story as always. It is sad that there has obviously over a long period of time developed a disconnect between the public body funded by the public to protect it in a way that works for both parties.
