I think the faint glimmer of hope is that we’ve got everything to play for and they got promoted on Saturday.

I’m sure they probably want to go on and win the league now…but…hopefully the aftermath of the celebrations are still in effect

If after all our dubious home form we pull out a win over the champions at home then I'll give up predictions for good.

Gotta hope they went out on the piss Saturday evening. Can’t see us winning this to be honest, but stranger things have happened

That’s the issues here.
They aren’t Champions. Exeter are only 3 points behind then - so they still have something to play for. If they were already champions I’d be a lot more confident of a win

One of two things is going to happen IMO.

The pressure release will see FGR return to early season form matched by determination to win the league.

The pressure release/celebrations will see FGR not be at the races temporarily i.e. for this game.

I've no idea which way it'll go. And frankly I'm more worried about our own character at home in a big game scenario. This is must must win

Saw the below chart on the Vegans forum which highlights our form home and away😅
One goal decides the game Att, 11,045 inc 650 away fans.

Interesting to see FGR have only won away against 1 side in the top half of the table. Lots of draws, I hope they sit back  Smiley

They may park the bus as they've only lost 2 away all season😀

Theoretically, a draw wouldn't be disastrous - a defeat would be.

We won at their place as Ward played like a man possessed. Can't see that happening again. We will concede 1 or 2. Its whether we can put the ball in their net or not.

It would be good to keep the season going until the banana skin of a game against Barrow and the lottery of Walsall. But, I don't think we are good enough.

Logically this is of course correct. The only problem with that is even though this feels like our "catchup" game, both Sutton and Mansfield are on the same games as us.

To me there are too many team in the mix. Feel 7 points may not be enough. Oddly Mansfield may be the team most under pressure - depends on Salford.

Note that some teams are playing Saturday, some bank holiday Monday

Mansfield (P43, 72 Points, +13 GD)
Mansfield v Stevenage (tommorrow)
Salford v Mansfield (Monday)
Mansfield v FGR

Sutton (P 43, 70 points, +14)
 Sutton v Crawley (tomorrow)
 Sutton v Bradford (Sat 30th)
 Harrogate v Sutton

Salford (P44, 69 Points, +16)
Salford v Mansfield (Monday)
Stevenage v Salford

Tranmere(P44, 69 Points, +10)
Tranmere v Oldham (Saturday)
Orient v Tanmere

Swindon(P43, 68 Points, +18)
Swindon v FGR (Tomorrow)
Swindon v Barrow (Saturday)
Walsall v Swindon
-------
Surely dead:

Newport(P44, 66 Points, +10)
Port Vale v Newport (Monday)
Newport v Rochdale

I can see Sutton getting at least 7 points so we would need to win all three games and even then that may not be enough.

That's my thinking on paper. Tankfully footy is played on grass and anything can happen. Mansfiled may win 1 and lose 2 for e.g. which lets us in with 7 points on GD.

Lets try to win 3 and see where it takes us.
