Re. the distribution of red flares onto the pitch by some numbskulls. Would I be expecting it to be the unwise option, to hope that if a group of fans identified an individual having just thrown a flare, they could/would/should make that individual known to stewards. I am only suggesting this in light of possible action being taken against the club/fans by the footballing authorities, and also is pointing the finger at an individual(grassing up)worse than a ban on fans at away grounds, particularly as we are doing so well away.

Down to the police to search the fans as they enter the ground

Self policing is probably the way forward, although if the club really wanted to identify said culprit(s) then there is CCTV at most grounds which I assume has to be of decent quality.

Superb effort to have flogged 1800+, I thought 1500 would have been ample.

I don’t think the police ever conduct searches on a club’s behalf, stewards often give a pat down but I don’t think they are genuinely trying hard to find anything.

That's slightly worrying as the wrong ones could smuggle anything into the ground.

I mean, you are never going to stop someone intent on bringing something untoward into a football stadium unless you go full airport style security!

Surprising, seeing as Mansfield only get 3 or 4k at home. Not too far and a good chance to beat Donny  Smiley

It’s a big Derby for them. My mates a Stags fan so I get the low down.

If there's a cup upset the Doncaster manager may be relieved of his duties!

smoke canisters seem to be very popular with football fans these days. At the 3 games I have been to this season at Stevenage, Northampton and Crewe the red canisters have been thrown towards the pitch  when we have scored and Liverpool fans did the same yesterday at Goodison Park. I am sure there are many more examples. I think they are probably 'safer' than flares, but obviously would smart if they were to hit someone directly.

I am conflicted.

They look cool.
But I don't want people to bring them in because of the likely sanctions on the club for doing so. And to be honest, not sure how safe they are.
