I see in the Adver Clem believes we have built a squad capable of promotion and taking plaudits for increasing the budget.

A budget that was close to being full before the window ended. Cant have been that competitive then can it?

The saviour has done it again, expect the rise in budget to be the answer to 80% of things raised to him at the fans forum.

Sad thing is that unless the players have massively underachieved we can all see that it's not a promotion squad so come december we will be looking for a new manager again

An in-line-with-inflation budget raise still counts as a raise... I wonder how much above that Clem (well, Clem's friends) have put in.

I looked at the return on investment and for the money that I was going to put in extra and worked out for January that this is where we are going and this is how we will get it.

Not entirely sure what he's saying here. That he's looking to cash in in January, or that he can see how to get money for a January spend.

The full quote is Trumpesque:

Quote from: Clem Jong Trump
I said to Kennedy ‘Is this what you need?’, he said that it was, and so we worked out the numbers and I put the injection in. That is how simple it was.

I looked at the return on investment and for the money that I was going to put in extra and worked out for January that this is where we are going and this is how we will get it.

You can see the squad is good: it has depth, it has men, it has got permanents. It is a great squad.

I'd imagine the thought process behind what he tried to say is something akin to:

I put the money in believing it will get us to January in a good position, when we can either top it up (if we look set for promotion), or sell a couple/unload some higher cost ones (if we are not going to be battling for promotion).

The ROI would relate to promotion being worth something, or offloading still being possible to get us back to an even keel on the original budget.  Like in previous seasons when we've flogged off a few over the early January period and replaced with odds and sods.

I think he is being a little optimistic on anyone having much resale value in this group though, maybe Glatzel or Kilkenny if they can get them playing well.  If he is top three he'd clench his arse and hope we get over the line for a bigger pay day.

Clearly with our player turnover, agents of the players are cashing in (not the money we pay the agents, but the money the player does).

I guess so. The ROI can be a longer term thing too though I agree the MO is  6months-1 year - whenever a bid comes in.

But promotion would seemingly cost us more money than it makes - that's what we are told. Unless he sells up I suppose. But is a league 1 club worth that much more than a league 2 club?!

Morfuni as predictable as ever during his interview with Hawes, who asked all the right questions.

He’s going nowhere.

Depressing!
