Also concur it sounds pointless.

I assume the idea is to just try & attract fans to spend their pre-game money in there rather than else where.

For example a father & young son duo might have lunch in Burger King then have a drink on the CGH before going into the CG.

Club gets £0 pre match from those two. Now if father & young son due have lunch & a few drinks in the fanzone pre match that money to the club.

Other than that line of things. I can’t see any point what so ever…

…and that Tranmere one looks so fake in the glorious sunshine & clear night skies

And me.

Think its pointless and a waste of money.

But it’ll cost peanuts. It’s a hedge, a statue that’s paid for, and some tarmac. We’re surely in £70-80k territory? Granted, I would rather that goes on a creative midfielder,
and it’s difficult to pay that if you don’t pay the matchday medical staff, but I can’t lose sleep over this.

An outdoor fan zone is fine when the weather is warm / dry (usually start / end of season.).
When it’s pouring with rain, blowing a gale or freezing cold, people will go to the pub, Burger King or wherever to be warm and dry.

I'm sure it will develop over time, I'm not sure where else you would put the statue?

Is that this board's mantra? They still haven't removed the Puma signs from the club shop, done anything to the CG despite stating work was going to begin years ago, what about the scoreboard development that was mooted? Stratton Bank roof anyone?

To be fair to the club they are probably putting money aside to pay for this infamous Mercedes lawsuit.

If there is no money for players, there’s fuck all for infrastructure other than what is necessary.

Doesn't development have to start soon as one of the ground sale conditions?

Just going back to that statue rectangular garden area. I think it's no longer planned to be a fanzone, but an area for the Don Rogers statue to be housed surrounded by some shrubs. This probably makes more sense, and I assume the fanzone will be somewhere else?

I thought it was within 3 years it needed to be started, we are 14 months into that period.  They still have some time but It's disappointing that we haven't seen anything yet on what the plan is.

... but not surprising, given the general state of everything else they've attempted or done so far...

Plans were due in July, according to the attempt to placate the angry Trust letter a couple of months ago.

So I for some reason get the members and non-members versions of the TrustSTFC monthly email (I am a member) and I noticed that there was... a lot more in the members one, including this benchmarking report looking at the FY22/23 accounts we issued and comparing them to other L2 clubs... not quite sure why this hasn't been promoted more by them?

https://truststfc.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Swindon-Town-Benchmarking-Report.pdf

Lots of detail but the tl;dr is:

- STFC costs and income are a little above the League 2 average, but not by a great deal
- Only seven clubs disclose wage data, but we're second bottom amongst those (Carlisle are bottom and they went up) - Northampton spent £1.3m more than us, Walsall £800k more. Northampton had £1m less revenue.
- Basically all of L2 is insolvent or nearly insolvent without owner support.

Have I missed this being put out somewhere?
