Spotted on Twitter that our main rivals' CEO used to work at Inter Milan and Man United, whereas ours?
I do hate this pre-season doomery, the weather is amazing etc etc. But it's all so 'meh' at Swindon at the moment, you just don't never seem to get many long term positive vibes under the current owners. Nothing has happened to either the ground or the training facilities in the 3 years or so since Clem and Co have come in. Personally, can't see us getting out of league 2 unless things change drastically.

A guy I know has some connections at Oxford and allegedly Brannagan's new contract is £15k p/w. I wouldn't be surprised if that is half our weekly wage for the whole squad.

We could get lucky: Crawley went up despite being an absolute basket case behind the scenes. But we're absolutely not giving ourselves the best chance of success.
What’s the plan though if we get there on luck and no foundation to consolidate. We’d be back down by the next season |

In some way Jeremy Wray was right, part of the excuse he gave for running with the finances was that the likelihood was a premier league 2 would be formed and the drawbridge raised cutting adrift the rest. That didn't happen. But can a club organically get and stay in the championship now? Seems you need a major sugar daddy and/or take on major debt. |

Not sure about specific TV income but as a guideline. Championship clubs average revenue per club in 2022/23 was £30.3m Championship clubs average wage bill per club was £30.4m League Two clubs average revenue in 2022/23 of £5.4m League Two clubs average wage bill per club was £2.8m |

The days of low key business men quietly investing in their local clubs to protect and provide for their team is diminishing in favour of chairmen that want as much as the spotlight and publicity as they can get.
They want to be the attention driver and it overshadows what the club/team is meant to be.
Money in football is an absolute beast now.
I want teams in any division lower than the prem to be able to be successful for the team they have and the hard work put in on the pitch and not really for the cash they show off.

Stagnation is stagnation no matter what league you’re in. Personally I’d rather be a bit of a yo yo club where at least you get an exciting season every now and again. |

In terms of the tv money paid to the EFL, 80% goes to the Championship The remainder is split 60/40 in favour of L1. So the overall split is 12% L1 8% L2 Sent from my SM-A346B |
