I dread to think what this seasons budget was before our fearless leader had to add more the last transfer window to make it competitive. It stinks. The whole thing stinks.
My favourite bit is the concerts over the playoff final weekend. This lot couldn’t manage either to save their lives yet alone both at the same time so a pretty clear indication they have very little expectation or even drive to get promoted!

Listened in, as expected it was more of a summary of what we’ve already heard but good to get it to other outlets.

The one thing I thought would get reiterated is the invitation for potential owners/investors to come forward and advertise that on a wider level. Didnt hear that come up though for whatever reason.

Yep, agreed. Thought they would have tried to push that

They should be going all out to emphasise that as that’s the only way our fortunes change anything else is tinkering round the edges and defaulting back to the normal destructive pattern

In a sane world you can see the case where as you go along that the debt levels and true running costs are refined and may have an impact on OPEX (mainly squad wages).

But it looked like a complete sea change when Chorley walked, we transitioned to some other model. I could understand it if this was because we were reducing cost to break even. But we are told we are losing 1M a year still. How much more was the old model losing then FFS?

Given we made a tiny profit the year Man City came to town - what changed since then?
  - Inflation
  - Loss of revenue from ST sales.

But we are told ST sales revenue is flat, and playing budget is increased.
I think the SDM interview that was pulled from the Moonraker lifted the lid on how lucky Clem & Co got in 2021/22.

Lucky the fans responded to 'getting our club back', season ticket holders writing off £2m from 2020 21 and the two Ben's put together a near promotion winning squad. If McKirdy doesn't show off trying to put that pen in the top corner.

Even then the conversations with SDM opened in January 2022 so you can see why the two Ben's walked. If you have got close to promotion and Chorley got wind he was being replaced.

Was Clem given a free hit in 2021/22 and others started making decisions afterwards or was it always the plan?

Since then, they have not wanted admit there is not a promotion winning budget but keep up the pretence there is and the season tickets and gate money keeps coming in.

That has meant throwing SDM, Lindsey and Flynn under the bus when it goes wrong. If Lindsey had come out and said the budget is bottom half, would he have been cut more slack?

So what's Clem's end game? Does he wait for the US style investor with more money than sense or do the 'debts' and 'admin expenses' roll away and the club stablises?

The irony is if we had finished 21st in 2021/22 and reversed our decline in the last 2 seasons in the opposite direction then Clem would still be the 'saved our club' hero.

I don't really agree with the last bit.

We were happy to give the team a free pass in the first season as we only had 6 contracted players in July.

But even if we had struggled and just survived, we'd of been back to expecting to challenge the following season. Absolutely.

https://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/news/2024/october/09/a-message-from-clem-morfuni/

A very long message from Clem that I haven't read yet

Okay so nothing really new there, a restatement of what he's said before in media rounds and so on, focusing on the mess the club was in when he arrived. Which is absolutely true and a fair excuse for some of the early turmoil: it doesn't explain why now, in his fourth year of owning the club, there are fairly large things (such as, for example, the men's first team) which are clearly going backwards.

Maybe the only new bit is: 10. We have increased the budget on the football side, to the second biggest budget since Paolo Di Canio.

If this budget is bigger than the one Mark Cooper got to within a bobble of the Championship then... well, fair play Mark Cooper, and some serious questions to Jamie Russell about what exactly he is doing with the money available. I suspect this one may be "technically" true but not in real terms, when inflation is probably about 30% compound since then.

Issuing a statement like this on a Wednesday just shows the deep lack of understanding of this club Clem has really. This is pure Friday afternoon heritage stuff.

The league one budget under PDC was around £6m wasn't it. That was stated by members of the board at the time im sure.

“I feel strongly about the online abuse and negative behaviour that has surfaced in recent weeks. Criticism is part and parcel of football, and I accept my fair share. I am concerned by the levels of personal attacks and abuse directed at not only me but also at players, staff, and other supporters. This is not what being a Swindon Town fan is about.

Bullying is for cowards and online hate affects the mental health and performance of our players, especially the younger ones. It’s demoralising and it can even push talented individuals away from the Club.”

Says the man that keeps company with money launderers, drug dealers, and invites wife beaters in as guests to the boardroom. The man that has refused to pay £5m to Axis creditors, ruining other small businesses in the process. He is a compulsive liar. He has no moral authority to say any of this and deserves every shred of criticism that comes his way.
