I exchange texts occasionally with a former podcast guest and it's always been pretty clear, from what I've been told, that Noel Hunt was very popular with the players. The 'good cop'.

Yeah, but, when's he buying the club then?

Also Hunt came across as a decent guy and one the fans could relate too

Met him a few times, decent open bloke and yes the players liked him.
Was treated as one of them by so many, where as Wellens was the boss. Real decent relationship.
Very concerning.

As it was Power who bought him and Wellens who bought Wright in - the assumption was Wright would follow Wellens and Hunt would stay here.

Obviously appointing Wrights best mate as Manager changed that.

I mean we all Hunt and Power have previous at Waterford but I wonder how pally they are? Is it possible Hunt knows Power won’t be owner much longer and that Hunt could soon be out of a job?

I’d say good luck to him but if he ends up at Salford I’d rather it went to shit, nothing against Hunt - just the other one...

Seems obvious that the immediate future looks bleak - not just at STFC but a lot of clubs. Salford is a no brainier when it comes to job security.

I said when Wellens left he could probably see what was coming over the hill regarding the ownership. In some ways that’s actually even worse. If he knows a change is a coming and he doesn’t fancy that the change might not be for the better.

Going off on a related tangent...

Steve Mildenhall signs as a player for Broadley FC which is way oop norf near Grimsby. Does that mean he's no longer our GK coach?

If true, more worrying signs.

Or positive - if you are looking for signs of an imminent takeover.

Well, initially I thought the same. New boss = better boss? What if they know who’s taking over and don’t like it one bit.

There's all sorts of potential reasons.

Even just not knowing the new boss might be enough if there's an opportunity open, for example. Mildenhall has played for Grimsby so I suspect he has mates at his new club.

Or it might just be something as simple as him not getting on with Sheridan, but it does come at a time when there is a lot of other movements happening behind the scenes.

Broadley FC is basically a charitable foundation to raise money for blood cancer research. I think all the players are Grimsby Town legends, they announce new signings on a regular basis
