Dv85 gave shakes 6, the adver also didn't rate him that highly.

I gave almost everyone a 6.

I wouldnt have dropped Shakes though, If I were going to drop a midfielder it would have been Whalley

Agree with that, Whalley has been piss poor this season.

I think piss poor is a bit harsh, although I have noted when Whalley plays well, we play well....or it could be the other way round....who knows

Gerrard used to play on the left for England until Scholes retired, he was playing on the wing in the Wales game at one point.

Ferguson has often played Rooney on the left on right of midfield in a 4-5-1.

Thing is unless you're a fan of a particular club or know their players well, you're not going to know which players are playing out of position.

I don't think premiership footballers are really any more adaptable. You get adaptable players at all levels.

BUT

who is to say those havent been tried out in training? or in friendly/reserve matches.

Plus those players get told what they need to do, they probably get told in advance they are going to play there and thus can prepare properly.

Pook looked like a man who has never played right wing in his life or even thought about it. He was probably as shocked as we were

Perhaps because Shakes and Nicolau haven't played well together in training, perhaps because he didn't want to drop Whalley, Pook or Migs. Perhaps he felt Shakes pace means he's a great option to have on the bench.

Well they're just well known under well respected managers who often play players out of position. There's no point using an example of a player no-ones heard of.

Because he was shit out on the left at Barnsley and shit out on the right against Southend, if it was tried in training chances are he would have been shite there as well....

In which case, why drop the player who has performed at first team level to replace him with a player who hasn't really made much of an impact yet?

That's probably precisely why Shakes was dropped, Whalley hasn't been particularly impressive yet this season so surely it would make sense to drop him and keep a natural right winger on the right and a natural left winger on the left?

Due to the overall lack of pace in our team he'd be better off starting. Shakes isn't that quick anyway.

Pook has been our best midfielder in the central role-but he's young so King thinks he can fuck him about.Drop Whalley you bumbling oaf!

no, I'm serious - he's got a bit of pace but it's not as if he's super-quick.
