I wouldnt have dropped Shakes though, If I were going to drop a midfielder it would have been Whalley

Agree with that, Whalley has been piss poor this season.

I think piss poor is a bit harsh, although I have noted when Whalley plays well, we play well....or it could be the other way round....who knows

Ferguson has often played Rooney on the left on right of midfield in a 4-5-1.

Thing is unless you're a fan of a particular club or know their players well, you're not going to know which players are playing out of position.

I don't think premiership footballers are really any more adaptable. You get adaptable players at all levels.

And who is to say that Pook has not been tried there in training.

Because he was shit out on the left at Barnsley and shit out on the right against Southend, if it was tried in training chances are he would have been shite there as well....

That's probably precisely why Shakes was dropped, Whalley hasn't been particularly impressive yet this season so surely it would make sense to drop him and keep a natural right winger on the right and a natural left winger on the left?

Due to the overall lack of pace in our team he'd be better off starting. Shakes isn't that quick anyway.
