The way to go would be up to New Street, which is direct to Carlisle... would be about 60 odd with railcard.

What happened to WB's direct train from Swindon to New Street  Hmmm

Agreed.  The £95 one was via Bristol Parkway and Brum New St. Have since found this one for £70-43:

Unfortunately, just a temporary route to cover engineering works at Bristol Parkway last year.

Booked Carlisle via Euston on the 07:43 back in January.
Just seen one at 08:30 that gets in 15 minutes before the earlier one and no mad dash from Paddington either.  Angry
Timetable changes I guess but 15 minutes of valuable drinking time lost.

I had looked out for it with a sense of anticipation.  Oh well, such a sensible thing was always too much to hope from our present railway system.

Myself + 4 others going up to watch this. We're flying up to Newcastle on Friday lunchtime, getting train across to Carlisle on Saturday late morning. Couple of night's out in Newcastle - let's hope we're celebrating rather than drowning sorrows! COYR!

Trainline says no trains available for me too Swindon to Carlisle, leaving early and returning after 5.

I think you need to click via Cheltenham on the Trainline website , was around £48 return from there for me but that was a while ago and was with a railcard. Would imagine that has rocketed now

Ha, oh dear.

I looked at the fixtures list and saw '4' and assumed it meant 4 hours. Not 4 days. That'll learn me. I could have just actually read the bloody thing. I thought this was a matchday thread for some reason.

It's been one of those days.

Ah right, I don't like Trainline TBH it should be far simplified.

Just did that and its £95.40 with a railcard now! £47.70 each way. AND it doesnt get you in until 8.26am Sunday!

Does anyone know what the booking charges and postage costs are if you book tickets via the club and get them posted out. Carlisle is 19 advance and 22 on the day, I suspect the charges will probably be over 3 quid anyway!

If you book the tickets online the club should only charge you £1 to send in post or click "collect from club" and then they'll send any uncollected tickets up to Carlisle and you won't pay anything but will have to collect from Carlisle on the day.

I've never booked on the phone but think they charge £2 as it goes through Ticketmaster or something. Online bookings are just dealt with "in house"
