Thats a pretty big name TBH. I never saw you call it mate, well done though. I know Power gets on well with PJ and Wellens did say he was after bringing in a good experienced coach soon in his interview after the Carlisle debacle.

Didn't see that coming.  I can only assume that Wellens has been in on this (or something similar) since taking the job.

Good move. It's clearly an area that Power struggles with.

Do Wellens and Jewell have any previous history/connections?

I would be inclined to agree, however on looking he is only 54 - seems to have been managing for bloody years!

One month.... the Latics fans blamed Jewell for the down turn in form after the initial Wellens' 5 wins bounce.

Bit Scouse for my taste... but Wellens seems pretty clear about what he wants from PJ, so a fair enough appointement.

He did bloody well at Bradford and Wigan to be fair to him.

Been all downhill since he resigned for Wigan in 2007.

Considering the amount of quotes I read from Oldham fans about Wellens, not once did I see any mention of Paul Jewell being at fault.
Do you make this stuff up?

From the Manchester Evening News...

Quote
Some supporters pointed blame at Jewell for the club's current poor run of form , with the team winning just one of their seven league games since he joined.

If the situation is as similar as that to the time they were both at Oldham, you'd hope they will have learned lessons from it.  Let Oldham be the trial run.  Their personal relationship does not seem to have suffered from it, at least.

So there are no direct quote’s from fans? Just a newspaper quote.
Must be true then.

Going by Wellens' quotes, PJ is here largely to handle contracts, help with identifying players and scouting and stuff. Which is what DOFs do. Very good timing considering there's a window just 3 weeks away.
