Following a vote of Football League clubs, it has been agreed to start the 2014/15 season on Saturday August 9.

This is a week later than this season and will give clubs in League One and League Two seven midweek fixtures, clubs in The Championship will have 11 midweek games scheduled.

A draft schedule for the 2014/15 season includes games on Boxing Day, December 26, and December 28 but no game on New Year’s Day, January 1, as FA Cup Third Round Day is Saturday January 3.

The season is currently planned to finish on Saturday May 2.
