Taken over in what capacity?

I'm guessing he's more of a general manager working for somebody else. Could this mean Jed is our of our hair? (It's been a tad quiet on that front)

Seen some online news that boxing promoter Dennis Hobson heads up a consortium to take them over

Doesn't look like that went through, appears to have been taken over by 'TMH 2014 Ltd' instead - http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/news/local/aberdeen-oil-company-brings-to-an-end-17-year-ownership-of-english-football-club-1.740741

Peter Harris who is referred to in that article as having taken over as Chairman is listed as the sole Director of TMH 2014, who lives in Warwickshire with links to Banbury. So quite plausible that the Banbury mafia are behind it and that our Steve's involved somewhere....

Is there any confirmation of Murrell's involvement other than the Hereford lot's assertion? (I'm sure they're right, just curious as to whether they've got some back up for it, or just an unconfirmed rumour?)

Looks like the sort of deal that Jed and Co would be attracted to - http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/local/hartlepool-united-chairman-says-club-is-debt-free-after-ior-wiped-off-14m-1-7008913

I am not sure if there is any direct evidence, the new chairman and Mr Murrall have shared some common directorships (Blue Husky) and also have companies registered at the same address?

It does too. Maybe this is going to be a standard MO? Find a wealthy but fed up owner who's prepared to wipe out all the debt and sell the club on debt-free for a quid, rip what you can out, then move on to the next bunch of mugs

It is sad to see 'Pools fans going through exactly the same process we did - first the hope, then once some history emerged - the caveated hope. Finally the same realisation once things start going downhill. Problem is, their path will probably be more like Hereford...

It really needs a David Conn etc article to go through what happened here and at Hereford to give a warning to others. Pools keep finding old Adver articles about what a great job Ged/Jed and Steve were doing.
Can't blame them, they just want to hope that things might turn out okay.
