A horse has died of a heart attack and gets shot in the bonce. How can we allow this to happen? As if Aintree wasn't enough? That poor horse was driven to its death. It was gasping for breath. For what? So we can drool over a betting slip.
The poor creature has died.

Are you sure? Seems to me that many horses die surrounded by a Royal entourage. Let them eat grass and the peasants will spunk their dough.
We, my friend, are just bit parts on the stage.

My mates old man fox hunts every year, and twice in the last 4 years the horse he has been on has died of a heart attack. Noone screams and shouts about that, and so they shouldn't, these things happen and horse racing shouldn't get stick when it happens to them.

If that poor horse hadn't have been put through hell, and instead was happily grazing in the field, would he/she have died of a heart attack? I doubt it.

How would you like it if someone was mercillesly whipping you to the finish line. You get a bag of oats if you win, but if not they'll flail you to kingdom come.
