But it is a shit looking bench Wink

Bugger the bench the back 4, 5, 3 or possibly 2  (Christ knows what formation you play with 1 CH, two full backs, a wing back and four central midfielders) is fucking terrifying.

I'm praying that Saints don't sell Dejan Lovren and go back to their "promote the youth" strategy. If the Stephens loan falls through we'll be properly scrabbling for defenders.

Just a post stating the starting line up and bench were the weakest he had seen, therefore impending doom for the forthcoming season.

Standard pre season stuff.

I refer my honourable friends to posts a year ago surmising same

Anyone know what sort of team Saints have out, I can't be bothered to listen to a pre season game.

I see Sam says its the best pre season we have played so far in the first 45 mins which is encouraging.

Power on transfers:

Mas bid - Evans asked how much to prize away, Power told him, he put bid in, we told him to do one.

The Thompsons - spoke to Barry F. He made offer. Fell short. Nathan aware and happy with situation.
Louis - Nothing from Wolves, no firm offers.

Don't have to sell. Not got loads of money and its tight, but not hemeridging but not flush. But obviously if the right offer comes...

How long until reinforcements? Knew it would be late for the three we have eye on. Hope to have one in maybe two. There is a fallback plan.

Anton Rodgers - yes there is a strong midfield but he became available within budget and injuries last year show you sometimes need them..

Smith from Liverpool? Don't think taking Anton on will harm us! But he was taken on on merit. Still talking to Liverpool in general.

Kids may get chance? They may do, we want to develop them and this year we are running with smaller squad

Sounds good.

In answer to my own question I found the team for Saints on their twitter.

K. Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Targett, Cork, Ward-Prowse, Reed, McQueen, Isgrove, Pellè.

subs: Gazzaniga (GK), Yoshida, Turnbull, Gallagher, Flannigan, Stephens, Sharp, Chambers, McCarthy, Mayuka, Sinclair.

That's one of the weakest starting line ups/sub benches in living memory.

I predict impending doom

Ha, I turn the commentary on to hear "Swindon Town have conceded, it's Southampton 1-0 Swindon". Maybe I shouldn't have bothered.

I don't think I've ever felt less excited about a season. Not even a flicker of interest beyond checking the forums etc. It saddens me a bit.

Give yourself a good shaking, man.

If the visit of Scunny doesn't get the juices flowing I don't know what will!
