He wanted improved terms and a two year contract,  was offered both and chose to move on, ho hum we move on as well.
Incidentally do we know who the agent is who is acting for Flint and McCormack is it Mr Spencer?

But only offered on the club's imposed deadline day to the original one-year offer.

Supposing Macca agreed a deal with Brentford after the one-year deal was offered and before Jed presented the two-year deal? Do you expect him to renege on what he may have agreed with Brentford?

Why did Jed leave it so late to offer a two-year deal?

Of course, not the end of the world that Macca appears to be leaving, but pity about the way it may have happened.

I always referred to the actual Nate Dogg as Nathaniel Hale.

I am certainly old enough to remember twenty years ago, the euphoria of finally reaching the premier league then the manager walking out and the guy who had skippered us through the divisions deciding enough was enough and pissing off as well!!  It has happened before and it will certainly happen again - and the only relevant point is we still have a club to support!!

Must admit that I never forgave Hoddle and Calderwood for that.

It was hard to take, but after having players sold from under him when trying to get there I'm sure Hoddle knew that we were not in a position financially to give it a proper go.

Although, if I remember rightly he had agreed to go to Chelsea long before we won at Wembley

Didn't they keep showing Ken Bates on the TV coverage that day?

I think the phrase 'strongly rumoured' was appropriate at the time.

A time of little internet and minimal Sky news.

If I remember rightly (Chelsea fan) David Mellor was the host of 606 on BBC radio at the time, and had commented to another Chelsea fan on air at the end of the season (before the play offs) that they should wait until the new manager was announced as they would be pleasantly surprised.

Hoddle's name wasn't mentioned, but looking back later it appears that it was already a done deal.

Ive said this before and I was at Wembley that day so didnt have the disappointment some might have had but David fucking Pleats first comment after the final whistle was 'and I think I can see the Chelsea chairman over there.....'  Wanker.

I can remember watching the highlights that nicght and just thinking, why the fuck mention that now, why not allow a moment of Joy before basically saying, you're managers off.

Yeah I remember that Saxondale...

Aside from the famous camp jig he did that time Pleat was always a cunt. An untravelled Hodgson but without the rhotacism.
