Interesting your opinion on Compton's position DMR. I thought you were a big fan? (Not a dig at all mate, I just remember you were very complimentary about him when he first came into the side - and I knew next to nothing about him).

I am a big Compton fan but he hasn't done enough to keep Root or JB out the side. KP is the first name on the team sheet for the Ashes so Compton must be the one to miss out.

Think you're probably right on both counts FWIW. Agree with you too, although think its best to keep as much continuity as possible too going into an Ashes series. Dropping Bairstow for KP is not as big a change as dropping Compton and moving Root up to open. Probably why they'll go that route.
I've just heard we had the option to enforce the follow on (missed most of it yest). How does that work then? I thought it was 200 runs less? Didn't they get within 180 in the end?!

Englands decision to bat again was understandable only if they then played aggressively.Trotts 11 in 69 balls yesterday was a disgrace.This mornings run rate of 4 an over with 9 wickets in hand was poor.As for batting on after lunch..mystifying. Teams often go on about getting an edge in the smallest ways. fine,but if your not prepared to do your best to win. Conservative bullshit, and poor captaincy.

Do think we did go on a bit too long and batted a bit slow too. I suppose it's about respecting the opposition though - plus not really giving them a sniff to win the test and more importantly level the series. If we're 1 up in the Ashes going to the Oval I'd be happy just to watch us bat them out the game so maybe the thinking is about winning the series.
