I think you've got your wires crossed there, it's next season the shit hits the fan for them. They're starting to argue this is only because of covid and so they should be cut some slack, and they've suggested that seven clubs could have the same issues.

If I were the club I’d have this handwriting examined by a handwriting expert, just to cover themselves from potential embarrassment if nothing else.

At the rate the just giving site is going up, we'll be able to send Joe and his family to a game, send them to Barbados and put a roof on Stratton Bank.

Why would a chancer try it with no way of getting a response?? What are they chancing?

The cynicism from some quarters is depressing.

I hope this Joe thing isn't a hoax. But re-reading the note, it mentions they have no money and his mum has to pay for school meals. If they were in that position, wouldn't he be eligible for free school meals? I could be wrong. But from my own experience growing up, I was eligible for free school meals as my parents divorced and we had no money really for a while

It's just a little detail that caught my eye. I genuinely hope this isn't a hoax as the GoFundMe has highlighted just how great football fans can be

If so it’s backfired, spectacularly. A hole I’d not want to try to dig myself out of. And too early for April 1st.

What happens with the gofundme page if it is a hoax?

Not for me to decide, but you would like to think they’d donate it to the food bank

yeah, but if it is a 6 year old they could have been told that even if it isn't the case

when I was small my mum used to tell me the jingle sounds wafting from the distance was the bread man, not the ice cream man.  I've completely forgiven the bitch now.

Surely this story is just utter bollocks and it is an embarrassment that we have made the BBC with it. Joe, 6 1/2. Sending 26p! It should have been treated like the hoax it is to not undermine genuine poverty in the community.
Has it actually not raised awareness even more. It is so depressing how everyone just sees the worst in everything lately

I don’t see anything bad about the whole situation to be honest.

The club have come out of it smelling of roses, money has been raised for the lad and/or a food bank and people have been made aware that, hoax or not, this is a genuine issue around the country. Even Dale Vince had managed to come out of it looking a nice bloke.

No one is going to come out if it looking bad.
