Di Canio's loyalty extends no further than himself. He's a megalomaniac who has always struggled with authority, but demands unwavering allegiance to himself.
I would still like him as our manager, but he's outgrown us and, if successful there, he'll outgrow Sunderland too.

Agree with that. Though I think that describes every manager to manage Swindon in recent times and every manager that will manage Swindon in the future. Cheery thought.
You're right. Although no other Swindon manager in recent times has put such an emphasis on loyalty. I think what really fucks me off is the fact that, for all his faults, we were so good when he was here. And now he's gone. |

Actually Sturrock had a good go at playing the loyalty card, not as hypocritical as Paolo though. |

Many seem based on Jed's and AB's reported views, supported by "in the know" comments that no one liked PDC. Even "out of the know", I sense that Patey didn't! The financial basis for STFC's Championship plan was abruptly abandoned by STFC itself and then on top of that PDC was (imo) humiliated over the manner of the sale of Ritchie (not the fact of it). Loyalty surely cuts two ways. I have every belief that, rather than grabbing Premiership glory, PDC would still be here if this year's agreed budget funding had remained in place throghout. I reallly don't get why a young manager with Premiership ambitions should be expected to hang around with a financially struggling League One club with no apparent plan. |

How much longer did PDC's contract have to run?
If he had walked out in us and into the Sunderland job, how much compensation would we have been due?
He is a smart cookie, do you think his threats to sue us were just that, a threat to stop us from remembering that we could be due compensation if he walked into another job fairly soon after?

I think I read that his contract was renewed and remuneration increased before the start of this season, either to the end of next or possibly for a further year, so he's left 1.5 - 2.5 seasons early
As ever, who knows what really happened but PDC would, imo, likely have had a claim for constructive dismissal v STFC and STFC would have had a claim v PDC for walking out on his contract.
Any claim made by either PDC or STFC would likely have been denied and met with a counterclaim by the other side.
It would not be in PDC's interests to claim now as he is unlikely to have suffered any loss if constructively dismissed and it would not enhance his employability. Wouldn't expect STFC to have a great case, so we can "move on" I'm sure.
