I'm getting a bit bored of taking ham or cheese sarnies to work. Anyone got any exciting combinations that could reignite my interest of sarnies?  Sad

kidney bean and Dijon Mustard may or may not work.

Not sure if you can try and heat it though.

Step one to improving (presuming you don't do this already), is change up the bread your using. Ditch the presliced and splash out on a decent loaf. Even if it's just a bogstandard supermaret bloomer / tiger bread. Cut that baby thick enough for a proper mouthful. Consider other deliveries. Bagels. Nice wholemeal rolls. Baguettes. Whatever catches your eye.

Then it's time to start pimping up the fillings. Let's take the cheese and ham you already go for. Splash out for some posh jamon serrano or parma ham. Maybe make it a bit more flavourful with some nice salami or any other cured sausage.

Fill it out with a flavourful salad. Some nice tomatoes with some red onion for a bit of bite, maybe some spring onion, just ditch the plain old crispy iceburg lettuce.

Improve the cheese. Depending on the texture and flavour your going for, step up to a nice melty Brie or Camembert, or a really blow your head proper mature chedder or even a nice stinky blue.

Ditch the marg/butter/plain mayo and make yourself a nice honey mustard dressing to throw in (mix up mayo, mustard (english/dijon/whatever your preference is) and some honey.

There you go. Ham and cheese sandwich

Go to Aldi/ Lidl (I don't know which one is which, the one up by the old Motorola), buy bratwurst, salami, smoked german ham and some creamy coleslaw. Cook a couple of bratties, chop up and chuck them in a couple of sandwiches, add the 'slaw and salami. Next day, smoked ham, butter and salami, chuck some cheese in there too. Alternate at your leisure.

I read those ingredients and saw several potential horse substitutes mentioned.  Stick with Cheddar and fried egg, with dried parsley on toasted white, known in my house as the hangover killer.
