Di Canio (based on his rants and pre-Swindon stuff) strikes me as the sort of person who would threaten to quit three times a day if he wasn't getting what he wants.

The party ended when Wray left.

I would, I want the best chance of getting to the Champonship.

Possibly a couple of days ago yes, but now it would be beyond a circus...

Equally what about the players, would they want him back. He apparently acted like a complete wanker to McCormack on Saturday, who I assume is well respected in the dressing room and didn't seem too down on Tuesday night. If this had not all kicked off there would have been uproar that he had gone mad and lost the dressing room?

Perhaps that's why he went, knew had lost the players!

This would be the most important thing. Though its academic.

Are you basing that on Morsheads tweets about what happened? I assumed there was a bit more to it than simple "being ill"!

Yeah, Di Canio fucked up by putting a deadline on something that was out of everyone's hands.
But do we really know it was out of everyone's hands?

I'm not sure that he did.

I don't think he wanted to go. I think that he has made it obvious that he hasn't been able to work with Patey. I think that he has made it obvious that he was disappointed that Black had changed his plans. I think that his statement about considering his future said that his position was 'becoming' untenable. Not that it 'was' untenable'. I think that his resignation was meant to say that he couldn't work with Patey and the old board anymore. Jed's Twitter messages showed surprise that PDC had gone. The fact that he, and his team carried on through the Tranmere game shows there was/is some loyalty. The fact that two players have been put in temporarily seems to leave the door open for him and the team to come back.

The only thing that to me suggested strongly that PDC wasn't coming back was the comment from Digby in the Adver article - “It’s a difficult one. For all of what Paolo’s about, and he brought a lot of passion to the club, there were a lot of things from a football point of view I didn’t like, a lot of antics I didn’t like."

I'm finding this morbidly curious!

But Black signed off a budget for the season and provided the sort of money that most Div 1 managers could only dream of. That got blown and he had to put his hand in his pocket to clear the embargo. He was then presented with the choice of coughing up again or selling - exit the most saleable asset. Unfair to criticise Black for changing plans.

I don't know there is a recurring theme that he almost seems to get to stage that he felt threatened by his captain and felt the need to belittle or humiliate them to show who was the big man. Don't know if it is the vanity or insecurity of the man but its a funny old trait.

It's almost like he had some fascist ideologies.

Or just a very complex character.

I'm sure I saw somewhere that he was sent home on Friday because he was unwell, and that he was spotted playing golf Friday afternoon.

Could be total bollocks, but at least it would be a better reason that 'He was ill"

He appears to be very Brian Clough-like in his handling/belittling/bollocking of players - and that worked well when he went to Leeds didn't it.

Some managers are like some players - fantastic at one particular club, useless at another.

Graham Westley's style suited little Stevenage but at a big club like Preston it blew up in his face.

We shall never know about PdC's true ability as a manager until he takes over another club

Or engineered his exit.

And yes BR, equally PDC could have engineered his own exit.

Something i thought about too. Or saw an opportunity to bail out without a massive fall out.

Glad someone else said that.  Fascism thrives on charismatic despotic leaders.  PDC, for all the success on the field, wanted that kind of power in every aspect of the club.  Great football, but totally desctructive to the well-being of the club as a whole.  Ask those who work there.

Even though I had to deal with the whole team being put up for sale on the day of the Leyton Orient game without my knowledge, and Matt Ritchie being sold behind my back, I continued to give everything for the club including preparing them for the game on Tuesday....
....and resigning, not turning up for training on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday before the match.......then renogiating a new deal with a get out clause that the club had no control over before pissing off the day before the game.

Yeah, right.
