Their rich Russian benefactor sponsors either the stand or the stadium itself, and under the rules, he can keep pumping in as much cash as he wants as the sponsorships count as part of the turnover. This is the same way MacAnthony got past the rules at Peterborough

Hit the nail on the head, the Russian owner has pumped in money by sponsorship deals on the ground from one of his companies this is counted as revenue as opposed to an owner loaning money or investing cash directly into the club. This means that although their expenditure is probably similar or more than ours on smaller income streams they will be well under the FFP rules.

Eddie 'The lush' Mitchell

Is he a new member of the Mitchell family that's popped up on Eastenders after being lost in Australia for twenty years or something? Don't watch it anymore...

This is the sort of stuff the yellow mob come up with.

Maybe. I'm sure all their speculations about our financial shape, and our fans defence of it, will be well tested over the next few seasons if Andrew Black is looking to sell the club. We can all assess then whether our strategy was a success then.

Even so, our spending relative to size has never been in the same ballpark as Bournemouth.

Our biggest name players have mostly come in on frees or loan. A few of those players have been rumoured to be on 3-5k,  a reasonable amount at this level but not unusual weighted against the other teams fighting for promotion (tranmere excepted). I think over the 3 seasons prior to this we never spent over £150,000 for a player, and only on young players with a view to being able to sell them on for a higher fee later on. The one time we tried to sign contracted players this season (Collins/ TAH) we were sent over budget by a £350,000 tribunal fee (for both) and put ourselves by choice under embargo.

Bournemouth on the other hand have been spending £800,000 on people like Tubbs (who has very little resale value and sits on the bench), making £500,000 bids for unproven 18 year olds from the SPL, spending £400,000 on Grabban, trying to sign Ritchie for £800,000, paying wages potentially up to £14,000 a week across the biggest squad in the division, while averaging attendances of 5-6,000.

Other teams can compare us all they like but those figures are way above Swindon's spending power as its been deployed since the takeover.

This isn't a bitter on attack on Bournemouth. It's hard to be jealous of anyone else's club the way Swindon are playing at the moment. It just seems an unbelievable indictment of the FFP Rules that their current model can fit anywhere on the spectrum of FFP, assuming it was brought in to prevent the boom and bust of clubs like Pompey spending massively beyond their means.

If the Russian investor pulls out and leaves the club paying that wage bill they will be completely f*cked. The rules should be there to prevent that possibility from existing.

Talking of the FFP I see Brighton are getting worried by this already and thats before it is implimented in the Championship next season.

Quote
Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber says the club will have to work hard to comply with new Financial Fair Play rulings which are being introduced to Championship clubs.

The Seagulls have confirmed that last year they operated at a loss of around £8 million and expect to announce a similar figure this year.

"Like a lot of Championship club, we are losing millions of pounds every year," Barber told BBC Sussex.

"In the past, clubs which have lost money have been able to run their businesses like that and get away with it. Going forward, that won't be the case."

Next season, sides in the second tier making a loss of more than £8 million will be subject to sanctions, which will take effect in 2014-15.

The figure of acceptable loss will decrease to £5 million from the 2015-16 season.

Me too, excellent post.

Bournemouth also forked out a lot of compensation to Burnley to bring Eddie Howe back as manager. I dont begrudge them at all, as we are also being backrolled by wealthy owners to a large extent, just as long as their backers are committed for the long term....

The bizarre thing about Bormuff, is they very nearly went to the brink of extinction 2 or 3 seasons back. If they haven't got this right, and if I was a Cherries fan I'd have misgivings, then I'd say it's extinction for them.

Some of the comments on the Aberdeen forum made me laugh about the Fraser transfer, this one in particular....

The more I think about it, the more stupid I think Fraser is being by moving on (especially to a club like Shocked Bournemouth)

Ok he'll not make the massive money NOW at Aberdeen but if he stayed for another two year contract with a view to being sold end of next season.
He could build up a much bigger profile for himself here & have a lot more (& bigger) clubs fighting for his signature.

He'd very likely keep picking up a good few SPL YPOTM awards with us & quite likely even the odd SPL POTM award & obviously he'd get plenty MOTM awards & would be in the press as the next big Scottish prospect more often than ever will (if at all) at Blink Bournemouth.

He is fucking crazy to leave Aberdeen for them. Especially if it's for any other reason (than he's being badly led to believe) than money.

No way he can convince anyone that he's moving for any other reason than money really but if you ask me (for plenty reasons other than cash now) Aberdeen are by far a better career choice than fucking Bournemouth BOURNEMOUTH FFS!

Any club that finds themselves three places below Inverness CT in the table has no right to mock another.

I think he may have a point. Would Charlie Mulgrew be playing in a Champions League side if he signed for us under Malpas? That was another youngster from Aberdeen.
