Oh and one final thing tonight. I'm fucking sick of my ST card never scanning in the turnstiles. Such a shite system. Nearly got refused entry tonight even though i'd paid for this game all because the card wouldn't scan properly. It takes about 2-3 attempts at all league games but they normally give up and let me in. Given it was a cup game tonight the girl on the gate wasn't going to do that. She had to suffer my abusive language before letting me through. I'm all for the cards but it would be nice if they worked.

Mine only works picture side up. It never works barcode side up.

I wasn't at the game, but in the interest of some balance, I think those saying we battered them are possibly being a bit blinkered. At times in the second half we put a lot of pressure on, but even on the radio it was clearly a close game, and we seemed a close second best in the first half.

The guy saying we were outclassed the whole time also seems to have a very one-sided view of the game though, even if he does claim to have been supporting Town tonight!

My immediate post game reaction was that we battered them but upon reflection that wasn't the case, we were the better team though.

Great night though, very enjoyable game, full house under the lights, I love football

Well, we made a fist of it.

At 2 zip down another goal would of resulted in a battering for us.  But we rallied and on another night we might just of pulled it off.

Villas clinical punishment of slight mistakes in the first half showed why they are in the Premiership....the sheer amount of chances we pissed away and the goals we scored showed why they are dog shit in the PL and the Champions league celebration by them at the death showed what it meant to them and 'standing in quicksand' Lambert who's arse must of healed over at 2-2.
Villa will be praying that Rangers and Saints will continue to be whipping boys to enable them to skank clear...I didn't see anything to say they will play themselves out of trouble.

It was a good run and I will never forget the night at Stoke for many a year....roll on Sheffield United!

Really enjoyed the game tonight.

Second half performance way above 1st Division standard for me.

How many chances did we have in the first 10 minutes of the second half ... excellent goals ... great game.

I'd hate to be a Villa fan - what is the point ? Doing fuck all year after year after year. Just making up the numbers in the PL.

Proud to be a Town fan.

They've won the European Cup for fuck's sake. If I was a bored billionaire I'd have a look at Villa.

Thought the difference tonight was pace, in their passing, in their movement and in their heads they were just that bit quicker than us. That's why they're Premier League players. But we acquitted ourselves magnificently in the second half - particularly the first 10-15 mins, which was to be expected, and again after the substitutions. De Vita, Williams and Storey all had something to worry Villa: touch in the case of the first two, and pace in the case of the latter.

The better side probably nicked it overall, but the fact Lambert was on the pitch celebrating their winner I think tells us all we need to know about how that second half went. Proud of the team tonight, and the manager. Does anyone still seriously think we could afford to lose Di Canio? We'd never find someone of his quality to take over.

I think it was more in the context of making up the PL, they won the European Cup in 1982, we've been more successful in Europe recently.  Smiley

If you look at the league placings of the team, Premier League v League One we hammered them second half. It wasn't 2 comparable teams playing each other, they brought on Bent who is worth more than our entire team.

Overall it was a fairly even affair but we edged it without a doubt and allowing for the gulf in obvious class and league placings, we did very well.

Oh and Gabby Agbonlahor giving it the big one against a league one side. Well done Gabby. Found your level at last.

More Flabby than Gabby I'd say, although he took the goal well.

I also listened on the radio - the radio normally frustrates me, but last night was absolutely gripping, seemed like end to end stuff, never enjoyed a game on the radio as much (appart from the result of course)

Think she tried mine about 5 times to be fair to her. It wasn't exactly her fault but it just pisses me off as it's not just the once but pretty much every game this season.

So when you raised it with the club, what did they say?

Very proud this morning, and a little hoarse!  Even at 2-0 down, I thought we were still in with a shout.  We were inventive throughout - especially in the second half - and never stopped creating chances.  And Paolo's subs worked a treat.  De Vita and Storey both magnificent.

Changed trains at Reading on the way back home and found myself surrounded by bemused Arsenal fans who couldn't quite believe what they had just seen at the Madejski.  Smattering of shell shocked Reading fans as well.  I had my very stylish retro red & white scarf with me (birthday present from Mrs Ardiles) and got mistaken for one of their lot, despite the fact I was reading a copy of the Adver with a massive picture of PDC on the back.  They were pleasant enough with it though, so I couldn't be bothered to correct them.
