PDC did mention Flint's mindset and looking back, he's mentioned the mindset of a player every time he's berated them publicly. Methinks there's a method to his madness, I also thinks it may well be working.

Have any of the managers PDC played under had a reputation of berating players publicly? Perhaps it's a management 'skill' he's picked up from somewhere. Maybe even from one of the best.

It's a Capello trait. Did it all the time at Milan and at Roma and Juventus. He actually did it to Becks at Madrid aswell. Read his book. Research Capello.

I think the influence of a manager like Capello is nothing to be sniffed at.

Capello was never shy of criticising players in public, he didn't do it to humiliate them but because he actually believed in them and knew the potential they had. The ones he didn't believe in and the ones who didn't listen were just moved on regardless of their talent, ruthless ruthless manager. There's some excellent pieces on Capello, have a read.

I think that putting additional pressure on players particularly during the game when PDC starts punching the dugout doesn't help in players making the best choice of pass or clearance, sure some players will be mentally tough and won't think about it but others will end up making more mistakes and I think that PDC does need to start managing people individually to work out who needs the bollocking and who needs supporting, maybe thats why he hasn't bollocked Ward, or maybe he's just barking mad....

Saw Flint in Sainsbury's tonight with a bit of arm candy. I don't reckon he's that bothered to be honest! Cheesy

Cheap date.

Blimey. Someone should warn him off figs if he's wanting to take her home.

Pretty sure di canio hated Capello as a manager, reading his book it says that anyways!

Maybe he wants his players to hate him as much as he hated Capello, it's obviously getting results!

Just listened to PDC's post match interview from last night.

I think he was just pointing out that Devera, RDV and Flint are players that are of limited ability, but, if they remain professional and are willing to gain experience along the way - as they have been so far - they will be taught how to become better players.

He used the word 'Autonomy' when referring to RDV in particular. I read that as him expecting the likes of the three players mentioned to be more consistent in their performances as individual players. Which is a fair point to make.

He didn't slate Flint in the way he did Fodderingham at the weekend. He was much more considered and thoughtful - IMO.

I'm pissed off with his unreasonable treatment of Troy Archibald-Henville, Paul Caddis, Wes Fodderingham etc, but I don't think he was slating Flint in the same way, so give the cunt a break, eh?

That my well be true, but the art to good management is to deal with people individually, as not all people can cope with this type of slating.
I am not saying that Paolo doesn't do this, as his handling of Wards poor game may mean he is being handled differently, I am saying he should do this
