Di canio could have kept the Caddis situation behind closed doors if he wished. He could have said Caddis wasn't fit and Maccca will be captain for now. That would have given Caddis the chance to sort himself out and nobody need have known. The club covered for Flint last year when he got ko'd and made up an injury whilst he recovered. Why couldn't they have done the same for the skipper who had a new baby and had lost a bit of fitness?

This is why I so often despise the press. The influence they have is frightening.
The problem is that PdC is a media dream, full of opinions, quotes, comments etc. etc. and he is happy to talk all day and the Adver/BBC just love it as he makes it easy for them, and until now we have seen both the good and bad points of these interviews. Yesterdays non appearance may be the Hartlepool result, but I wonder if it more to do with the BBC interview with Caddis (which was repeated again before the game) and referred to more than once during the not very good commentary. To my mind the whole saga has been badly handled and the sooner a conclusion is reached then the better for all concerned as I want the Town to push on in this Division and not be distracted by off field problems.

It certainly sounds as though Caddis was hurt by both PdC's actions and even more so by the way it has been handled since. However he appears to want to put it behind him and move on. I just hope that PdC can be sufficiently mature to do that and not to bear any grudges. The thing that concerns me most is that if he can upset Caddis so easily, how many others will he hurt over time? Its all very well that players want to play where they will get success but at the end of the day if they are not feeling happy at work day in and day out this could lead to some deciding they'd prefer to get away. We have a good proportion of our squad out of contract at the end of the season and I just hope that PdC's man-management doesn't end up with players we'd want to keep preferring to look elsewhere.

If Caddis said he wasn't going to be playing again, there'd be a meltdown. When he says he's just not fit, it's ignored.
Some of you have been had. The adver are milking it and making it out to be something it isn't and you are falling for it hook, line and sinker.
I'm going to the beach.

Im actually encourage by Pdc not giving an interview. He was obviously very unhappy with the performance and for once he ignored the media. As we all know it would not have been pretty. Therefore avoiding another media storm. Maybe he has finally learnt.
With reference with Caddis I'm actually encouraged by his reaction. He is disappointed by the situation but seems very much wanting to move on. This is where pdc also needs to move on.
I've been on the end of a few bollickings in my time and I respect the manager more who dishes it out, both parties say their piece and both parties move. The ones I don't have a respect for are the ones that dont move on and hold a grudge and everyone just nods to with fear to airing opposing views. If caddis is not in the squad Tuesday, especially after a team that did not perform on Saturday then he ain't coming back.

Yes, he got sparked out up old town, near the end of last season. Apparently he was giving it the big one and got what he deserved.

Or he's not fit.

I agree providing Caddis is fit.

Any Adver sports writer would have sensationalised this, it's their job.
The whole thing has been handled badly by everyone involved - Paolo, Caddis, the board, the Adver and the fans.
But we can't afford to continue to indulge Paolo's falling out with players, no one is bigger than the team in my opinion and he needs to learn how to deal with issues in the dressing room.

And there's me thinking it's their job to report the facts They have reported the facts, just not in the order that would make it less sensationalist

Still recovering a little yesterday, the beer and the sunshine along with ten odd hours sat in a mini bus seems to have left its mark today a little. Got to say Jacksons Wharf on the little quayside was nice....lovely little old fishing wharf and though the beer wasn't great the fact that there were no TV's on the wall or in the pub at all made it all the better in my opinion....sitting in the hot north east sunshine with a beer and chilling, what more could i want apart from the win to top it off. A good atmosphere for the game and got to say i found the Hartlepool fans a good bunch. A rather poor first half was forgotten after the break and we dominated after apart from one effort that hit the bar. My only small critism is that i think our wide men play to deep at times....Ritchie often deep in his own half to get the ball. Never understood why strikers do not take penalties but there you go....could have had another one when Benson was bundled over and though really disapointed with the penalty miss a point gained ooop north will do for me.
Troy Archibald Henville was outstanding and my MOM by a long way.....he will take a lot of shoving to get out of the team, could be a gem in the making. Enjoyed the day and Hartlepool was another ground marked off that list of mine, two clean sheets is a positive sign.
