I don't agree with the decision to ban Sagan. Nasty accident but surely balance/self defence/racing accident. I've seen a lot worse.
Marginal, but whether intentional or not, I think DQ is justified.

I would disagree whenever a sprinter starts putting himself in dead mans alley its only likely to end one way, Sagan drifted (however the extent to which this was influenced by Griepel appearing to lose the back of his bike is not clear) however Cavendish was coming from out of eyeshot and thus I don't see how it was anything other than a racing accident, it looked shitty at first replay but once you analyse how it developed kicking him out seems very harsh, I think the original demotion and 30 sec penalty was probably spot on, however it appears that they based the punishment on the outcome rather than the actual incident. The one person who should have been penalised for deviation was actually Demare who veered right across the line of the others, but they were unlikely to DQ the wearer of the French Nationals Jersey, especially as its the first bunch sprint they have won for years. Actually the most amazing thing of the whole sprint was that the only rider who actually acted within the rules and reasonably was Bouhanni!

It's just a shame that the race has lost 2 of its characters in such a way. Still think Sagan was a bit naughty.
Where's Djamolidine Abdoujaparov when you need him?

No doubting that he was a bit naughty but not enough to DQ him

If you haven't seen what's happened in the tour today yet, turn everything off in the meantime until the highlights at 7!

That was a good stage!
Porte has a broken pelvis I've just read. Feared it could have been worse..
Martin was 'lucky' as well...and the finish... ----

Unbelievable drama, it's a shame to lose Thomas & Porte though.
Amazing that it came down to that distance after such a hard stage.
What are the feelings about Aru attacking as Froome had a mechanical?

We've only had one week... seems like longer. I think if he wants to attack then fair enough.... the others mostly wanted to stick to the convention. He needed the others to go to make it stick... he could have gone for a solo ride, but knew there's no point. Similar happened in the Giro, when Nairo fell off and Tom Dumoulin waited. But when he stopped for a dump they all fucked off up the road.

Its convention to wait, so I guess its a bit out of order. I remember Ullrich and Armstrong 'wait' sportsmanship, and if they could do it... Does amuse me though, cyclists have gone the wrong side of the rules a lot to win at all costs...but attack yellow during a mech failure is a no no...
