Sounds class Horlock. Definitely a trip I need to make. Either that or a big cyclocross race out there.
Great to see the two world champs winning one of the biggest races of the year. Big Liz and Sagan are class.
Would like Spartacus to take Roubaix though. It's about time we had some shite weather in this classics season isn't it? Been unbearably pleasant so far.

First ride today in nearly 12 months since I got ill, did about 20 miles on the mountain bike and really enjoyed it, but nearly killed my unfit legs and lungs!

Good work. I went out for just shy of 30 yesterday in prep for a 100 miler next month, looking forward to it!

I'm not riding at the moment as I had to have my left ankle broken, reset and tendon and cartilage repaired. I was in plaster for 2 weeks and just this week migrated to a boot.
I got myself as fit as I could before but already after 3 weeks non weight bearing my left calf looks like it has aids.

At least you are back to health and able to get out and about which is great news. I classify myself as more a roadie than MTB'er but I do go through phases where I favour one over the other - like on a warm summers evening ride on bridal paths over the south downs way. Then I fall off my MTB and become a roadie again

Its like an extended letter from the letters page of Cycling Weekly (although at least he didn't make reference to the BLRC!) Cycling like all sports or hobbies is what you personally choose to make of it, these sort of pieces moaning that people are changing it just illustrate the narrow view that the writer has that anyone 'new' dares to enter the sport. FWIW I started out a BMX'er then an MTB'er now a roadie but also thinking about giving some touring a go, although I do fear meeting people with such views would put me off.
