I do a lot of walking on a daily basis and my bleeding socks are forever getting holes in the heel.
Is there such a thing as a hard-wearing sock?

My socks always go in the toes...my solution have about 40 pairs, all of the same colour (black) and it's usually possible to find a few without.
This is particularly annoying when it comes to proper nice walking socks, the thermal sort and quite expensive, because they too go after a few walks as well.
Never have a problem with heels though.

It probably doesn't help that when I walk the greyhounds I am forever in wellies.
I chalk up about 4-5 miles daily

I do frequently....think though it may be because I have strong nails, a result of having been brought up in the 1950's age of daily free school milk. A post war public health move, introduced to counter the prevalence of rickets...and I'm not talking Michael or Rohan.

I remember free school milk, the mini bottles, usually warm and with beak marks in the foil top.

Of course, de rigeur for a middle aged fashionista such as myself...I favour this sort of look. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_V4w18ZWaPas/SQFqe5d06aI/AAAAAAAAB1k/_lVcZtwz1P8/s400/Socks+and+Sandals+Catwalk-02.jpg

Ah, the Ring of Kerry.
Magnificent.
It truly is a fantastic place to live - albeit hideously expensive.
I'll be sorry to leave
