Ooh a parting shot at the manager.

To be fair though, he has a point

If Paolo didn't let him know, then I would be a bit disappointed. Phil Smith is a top bloke, and loved the club, regardless of the criticism he's come under during his time with us.

Great servant to the club. Who's our longest serving player now then?

When did he sign a pro contract?

2008. When loads of them did.

So him and Mark Scott and are now the longest serving players. I find it funny that the joint longest serving player has never even made an appearance.

All the best Smithy. And good luck in your new venture (odd choice for someone with no hair)

I wonder what the record is? 5 seasons of professional football without making an appearance.

I've never wanted Mark Scott to sign a new deal more.

Seems Smithy is typing his replies to people and deleting them within a couple of minutes.

I like Smithy, outside of football too, but the outpouring of grief on Twitter is a bit nauseating.

Good luck Phil

I wished him luck, no more than that.

Phil is trying to be the 'better man'.

Why PDC never gave Smithy the call himself.............

@smudgeegghead @JamesHolman92 tbh smithy i think tht di canio has alot on his plate bout the Jonathan Tehoue stuff #JustSaying

I get a feeling Paolo really does have his own unique way of doing things
