Was Lee Cox likely to be in anyway.

Sound an odd way to punish a player that hasn't even been making the bench.......

Somebody on here said he was injured and apparently Rooney wouldn't have been playing anyway due to some sort of 'gentleman's agreement'

I thought that too but apparently he's been injured so that might be why he hasn't been involved in the last month or so.

I have got 3 tickets for today but I just cant be bothered to go with all of this negativity , Tuesday night was awful and the body language just was not right. I woke all positive could not wait to celebrate in front of the Pikeys but I am not prepared to get in the car with the kids and drive all the way to pikeyville to watch us get stuffed by playing another weakened side fucking fuming lets just fucking get over the line win the league and then put all the cunts up for transfer.

I don't see why he couldn't just fine them. Jimmy Bullard and Michael Chopra went out on the piss a few weeks ago when they shouldn't have and Paul Jewell dropped Bullard and fined Chopra. His reasoning was that each of the respective punishments would be most effective in each player's case.

Paolo should have just fined the other four IMO. It should have been kept in house and a line could have been drawn under the incident.
There you have the difference. Ipswich have a decent team who are underachieving because like the players the manager likes a drink. He has let them do this shit all season and despite spending shit loads in the summer are fucked because of that culture,we seen last year what it does to the club first hand.

I understand your other post about all players going out but these players all have to ask permision at the clubs, the rooney example where he went for a meal without asking and was dropped.

Paolo has never stopped the players going out hence why people have seen them this year the key difference though is he does not want them steaming until the early hours and definatly not 3 days before a game that can get you promoted. Let's add to the situation that it's the first time it happens coincides with him having to leave the country to be at his mums funeral he probably feels that they have let him down.

These players need to realise that they are only one level above non league ffs. They have a choice knuckle down  and they can have a good career or follow the likes of rose last season and see what happens.

The plus side is that on the whole they have been brilliant and done what is asked and in a weird way may see how close they could of been to losing something they all worked bloody hold for.

Sorry for the essay am fucked on painkillers Cheesy

I have a question. I've been away and have not read every single post on this subject so sorry if it's already been covered.

Every Saturday around the country, players from every club go out on a Saturday night and have a few beers, win lose or draw, regardless of where they are in the table. Paolo, even though he is Italian and therefore not from a drinking culture, will understand this surely, having played in the UK for a number of years.

So my question is: Is his policy that players should never, ever go out drinking during the season (a bit Draconian I would have thought and doomed to failure) or did something else happen for all this to erupt?

Because when there's a game on Tuesday, Sunday is not a day off

All he's going to be doing is putting Smith in for Foderingham.

It's otherwise likely to be pretty much our strongest 11, full of players eager to get back into Di Canio's good books. I don't get all this negativity.

I guess we'll follow up our last defeat with another today, like we haven't done so often this season...

Why the fuck did these four not apologise as well earlier in the week? I think Di Canio is spot on here. His way or you're out.
I agree totally, the players know the rules (I am assuming Paolo told them about drinking), they broke the rules, they get punished.

As for Cox being brought into it...makes me wonder if he was the one that Paolo said would not play for the club again this season.

Around Christmas a certain Mr Ferguson left out Wayne Rooney for a similar transgression and he apologised and that was it. If the remaining Town players dropped today cannot be assed to do the same who in the hell do they think they are? The Club will always be bigger than any player!

We could win the league today. Is it really worth the risk of missing that, just because Wes, 2 injured players and Rooney aren't playing?

What's annoyed me, and I suspect maybe PDC, is that these four were happy to let the other five be hung out to dry without fessing up. Hardly way to treat team mates

The good news out of all this is it would appear that Cox has just been injured and not a poor signing (hopefully) as was suspected.

Everyone was jumping the gun on Tuesday night making comments about Flint.  Ironically, it now appears that he wasn't involved and the player who was picked in front of him was and kept quiet!

What is this doing to the dressing room?

PDC play your strongest team and sort out the problems internally after we have won the league, not now. Lose today and Shrewsbury win and it will get a bit tense.

Come on, stop them two weeks wages and win today.
