There you have the difference. Ipswich have a decent team who are underachieving because like the players the manager likes a drink. He has let them do this shit all season and despite spending shit loads in the summer are fucked because of that culture,we seen last year what it does to the club first hand. I understand your other post about all players going out but these players all have to ask permision at the clubs, the rooney example where he went for a meal without asking and was dropped. Paolo has never stopped the players going out hence why people have seen them this year the key difference though is he does not want them steaming until the early hours and definatly not 3 days before a game that can get you promoted. Let's add to the situation that it's the first time it happens coincides with him having to leave the country to be at his mums funeral he probably feels that they have let him down. These players need to realise that they are only one level above non league ffs. They have a choice knuckle down and they can have a good career or follow the likes of rose last season and see what happens. The plus side is that on the whole they have been brilliant and done what is asked and in a weird way may see how close they could of been to losing something they all worked bloody hold for. Sorry for the essay am fucked on painkillers I think what I am saying is why not fine them all a week's wages? That's a pretty strong punishment/deterrent from not doing it again and hurts the individuals concerned and not the team/fans.

Why the fuck did these four not apologise as well earlier in the week? I think Di Canio is spot on here. His way or you're out.
Simple as that....it smacks of....oh the manager has fucked off to Italy lets make hay. But lets be clear about this most of them wont get a look in next season and this wont have helped there cause.

I think DRS is saying, in Ipswich's case at least, a fine is clearly not effective enough. Using Ipswich as an example would be fine if they are doing well, but they are not.

Chill out people...we're up..that was the aim for this season. PdC is doubtless looking to next season, if he's still here, and he's 100% right that there can be no repeat of last seasons activities. Div 3 is much tougher than Div 4...just look at Chesterfield, we'll need a major rebuild....and this will show him who has the mental toughness for the scrap ahead.

I have got 3 tickets for today but I just cant be bothered to go with all of this negativity , Tuesday night was awful and the body language just was not right. I woke all positive could not wait to celebrate in front of the Pikeys but I am not prepared to get in the car with the kids and drive all the way to pikeyville to watch us get stuffed by playing another weakened side fucking fuming lets just fucking get over the line win the league and then put all the cunts up for transfer.
Que abuse
What a waste of 3 tickets. *Cue

Somebody on here said he was injured and apparently Rooney wouldn't have been playing anyway due to some sort of 'gentleman's agreement'
Can't be any gentlemens agreements, not when Hessenthaler makes a comment in a pevious adver report saying he's looking forward to going head to head with his former player.

I think Paolo is doing the right thing and it smacks of what Lou Macari did back in 85 when he said he would have to breathalyse the players. We all probably like a drink but heavy sessions really damage the body's recovery and with an important game on the Tuesday it's took soon. Look at the long careers that those who bought into Lou's approach enjoyed and those that didn't fell by the wayside.

If we win then the boss got it right,if not then he got it wrong. The players have clearly broken strict rules set out by the boss.
I don't think the lads did anything that bad, just pissed it up on a saturday after a big win-birth of a team mates baby. There was plenty of time to prepare for tuesdays game so i'm sure it would have had zero effect on their performance even more so for today. Bloody risky move by di canio at the crunch time of the season. The players will obviously be pissed off about it and it could effect team morale(really hope not though)

I was on the same table with Claudio and Domenico at the Sponsors Dinner a few weeks ago, and someone asked Domenico if any of the players are allowed a drink. He said that they are not allowed to drink any alcohol.
The players know the rules...and they've broken them, and now they're going to feel Paolo's wrath.

Strikes me that it's all been a bit childish. Wait till the manager (teacher) is out of the way & we will have a piss up.
The players then had the opportunity to own up, apologise & put it behind them and move on, Which five of them did.
The most annoying thing is that it appears these four didn't do that & are now paying their price.
