Jebus, with that 'Constable asks for permission to speak to Swindon' story he's a dead man walking. There's no way he can stay there.

Love it Cool

I had a quick look around at the strikers named in this thread, working out goals per game average at Conference level and above (yes I am sad and bored)

Tubbs    215 games 112 goals - 1 goal every 1.9 games, aged 27
Constable 231 games 93 goals - 1 goal every 2.4 games, aged 27
McLeod    258 games 92 goals - 1 goal every 2.8 games, aged 27
Kee         99 games 30 goals - 1 goal every 3.3 games, aged 21
Connell   278 games 72 goals - 1 goal every 3.8 games, aged 28
Grabban   140 games 30 goals - 1 goal every 4.6 games, aged 24

Grabban and Kee have age on their side compaired to the others but the thing with Constable is that hes a very different player to all the others listed here and also very different from what we already have.

Hes a tall bustling muscular target man, Connell, Magera, De Vita, Murray, Kerrouche and Benson aren't that and that is obviously exactly what PdC wants.

That is a very respectable 'G to G' ratio for Constable I have to say.

One thing about Grabban is alot of those games were at a higher level and as a winger

Only the 10 games he played while at Palarse were in the Championship, the rest were at 1st div level and below like the rest of the players on that list who have all with the exeception of Tubbs played in the 1st Division.

And yes he did start as a winger and TBH thats probably his best position, a goal scoring winger, hes certainly not a target man which PdC is obviously after.

I'd love it if this comes off. You don't? So what, bite me.

Who says he's not good enough for League One? How many times have you seen him play at League One level?

The fact is he's played half a season in League One in an abysmal Walsall team that finished bottom of the table (one place below us!).

Agree with all that. Not to mention we aren't nearly in league 1 yet, and he would undoubtedly be an asset for the second half of this season.

I don't give a flucking fuck if he played for the scum and scored a winning goal at the CG against us then kissed his piss coloured shirt badge.

If he signs it will piss the inbreds off so fucking much and I think he is EXACTLY what we have been missing up front all season.

I hope we pull this one off.....and soon!

Some people need to get a grip, Footballers kiss badges all the time it means nothing.

Robbie Keane has done it at all 26 clubs that he played for having supported as a boy.

This, as long as he scored a shit load for us, I don't really give a fuck!

Having an Oxford player come out and say,
"Let me talk to Swindon"

Is brilliant.

I think he could do a good job here, though him signing probably also means Paolo has finally given up with Magera...

We hear from a trusted source that James Constable is not looking for a move from #oufc and certainly not to another League Two club.

Make of that what you will, but certainly doesn't sound like he wants to talk to us.

Why can't the guy just say, "I'm not joining Swindon Town".

Then we can all move on.

The comparison with Joey Fuckface end with the fact that Joey was and Oxford fan, whereas Constable is a Swindon fan.

We can make his dreams come true and fuck that lot off down the road, big time!

From that tweet it sounds like he isn't keen on joining us, but that he certainly wants to leave them.

Think we've dodged a bullet there anyway.
